UAs, Barnacles & More Thread 5 - The Canonn

Sorry to shoot your theory, but the rares can be found/got by shooting the barnacles, the random drop and all the other spikes drop all of the materials at some random point...
I got all fsd jumps 100% from Barnacle farming..........
It is all random on many planets, they are not planet specific, I have done all planet kinds and found no matter what, even relog back in causes a random drop of materials.....
I have collected all 25 materials and these increase explorer rank 1% for every new material discovered.....

I'm thinking since the nebulae the barnacles are found in relate to their origin, we should find some commonalities between Pleiades and other nebulae. (Ie hot stars, colors, type of nebula, etc, etc.) I'll be trying to find some type of link as the day goes on.

I'm just wondering whether "origin" means place of origin or what kind of environmental conditions come together to "produce" these barnacles...

For any CMDRS near the Orion belt, I've been cruising around this planet which, based on stats has as likely chance of spawning something. Signals are plentiful, just no barnicles yet.

Please i need help with morse code.

i managed to decode this from page 517
Barnacle 2 (Merope 5 C) 01010011011111
Barnacle 4 (Pleiades Sector JC-U b3-2 1) 1010110011001011101000101010100
Barnacle 5 (Pleiades Sector JC-U b3-2 1) 1111010010101010101101010010011110110000110101000

01010011011111 = -.-.- - .. - .. ... == ATTENTION Titis
1010110011001011101000101010100 = . -. -..- - . .- - .-. .. - . --- .-. -. -.-- == enxteatriteorny
1111010010101010101101010010011110110000110101000 = ... . -. - -.- .-. -.-. -. . - .-. -- .- - ....- ..--- - . .-. - . --- == sentkrcnetrmat42terteo

Sound like a message to me, but finding the proper morse syntax is quite hard.
After a long day with a dental RL interdiction i have to stop for now.

Good Luck Commanders!

Awesome work! Looks like Attention this territory

given the lack of any syntax indicators, perhaps it could be something like the arecibo message?

Also, I couldn't help but notice the letters "tea" in the 2nd line... since some CMDR's are finding so much tea out in the black.

What are the planetary gravitational factors in all discoveries so far?

Are the constant (Close)

Are they random - does this reflect in the size of the barnacle?

How do you make it Morse, without any spaces? Do you use the howl as space?

that's exactly why I don't think it's morse. Morse is "pseudo-binary." To make it real binary:
(from wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_binary_codes)
  • Morse code is a variable length telegraphy code, which traditionally uses a series of long and short pulses to encode characters. It relies on gaps between the pulses to provide separation between letters and words, as the letter codes do not have the "prefix property". Morse code can be represented as a binary stream by allowing each bit to represent one unit of time. Thus a "dit" or "dot" is represented as a single 1 bit, while a "dah" or "dash" is represented as three consecutive 1 bits. Spaces between symbols, letters and words are represented as one, three, or seven consecutive 0 bits. For example, "UP" in Morse Code is "..- .--.", which could be represented in binary as "101011100010111011101".

regarding the UP example, if you can't see it:
U = ..- = 1 0 1 0 111
[space] = 000
P = .--. = 1 0 111 0 111 0 1

Now I apologize if this has already been mentioned in the thread, but I am having trouble keeping up with it all. I have seen though, that Barnard's Loop keeps being discounted for some reason.

This screenshot of Barnard's Loop was taken from near the Witch Head Nebula, so I'm not sure if the alignment will be more accurate from Merope (it's obviously in a slightly different position in the screenshot though due to my location, but not significantly so).

Is there any reason the marking on the Barnacle would not represent Barnard's Loop as seen from the point of view of the Barnacle itself?

Sure, it isn't perfect - but 1) this is the most obvious thing we have in the game, and 2) Michael Brookes as essentially told us to look within a nebula.

What am I missing here? Seems to me we are being pointed towards Barnard's Loop...

EDIT:

And as a complete stretch, maybe the "marking" is broken and doesn't align 100%, because it represents faction control, e.g.:

http://www.st-minutiae.com/articles/romulanwar/map_8_3.jpg

(I'm sure a map like this exists for Elite with Federation, Empire and Alliance control - but I wasn't able to find one...

It is the most obvious and right in the face hint. I think it guides to B's Loop. Some say it's too obvious, well, B's Loop is massive. Then the triangle on the bottom left is missing, well, maybe we need to look at it from a different angle, not from sol. etc. etc. I shared some thoughts in post 7733.
.
ps: I still would like to see persistent objects once discovered in my planetary map.

i think the variable length is pointing towards morse. it was just translated from audio to 0 and 1.
i tried around with spacing. maybe if someone listen to the noises again it's possible to hear the spaces? i dont know. maybe there are errors in 1st translation (audio->0011..)
yes, you can find different text with another syntax. but if we find the right syntax the message will tell us.
i used this interface http://www.unit-conversion.info/texttools/morse-code for playing with the syntax, but the ATTENTION is morse prosign which is not recognized :(
