Ship Builds & Load Outs missles seem useless?

They tried to balance missiles by reducing the damage so much that they became useless. The damage should have stayed the same but have a big decrease in the rate of fire, and have the heat generation go up a lot as well so you can't spam rockets. Keep the uselessness against shields so people can't be going around with just rockets as you wouldn't be able to get the shields down. Simple fix, but still usable rockets.

To be honest, a lot of things don't make sense. Why does hull plating take up internal compartments, surely its attached to the hull?
Why make the bulkheads mirrored, they are internal, wouldn't you want that on the hull?

In something like an eagle, wouldn't you get more mileage with dumbfires?

Probably, but then again --->

I've always had a fond spot for explodey-seekey goodness.

Niiiice.

Missiles and rockets were fine on release. Not enough juice in the tank to laser bigger targets and people just too cheap to dole out for reactive armour. Both need the damage they had before but perhaps less penetration. Rockets were basically more expensive cannons. They were balanced great but now and even more with hull kits and stuff they seem just for people who cant aim fixed cannons rather than a faster more expensive alternative for when resupplies are close.

I'm very disappointed to return to this.

HRPs aren't armour plating, they are internal structural reinforcements, kind of like having a bunch of scaffolding inside the ship to help stop the ship collapsing or falling apart as it takes damage.

While I don't see any point to seeker missiles, dumbfire missiles are THE weapon of choice for ground assaults.

We need ammo racks!

They would give much more life to missiles/rockets/torps/rails etc, and additional ammo mass could easily be treated similarly to standard cargo hauling. Even with the option of being able to jettison ammo - that could have pretty exciting results! Different ammo types could have different mass to save adding an extra 64T of Torpedoes in one internal slot. Though that being said, if you're brave(/stupid?) enough to do so, there's scope to introduce a new element of risk I suppose.
It could also be quite interesting as a targetable module (as opposed to the standard [boring] procedure of targeting Power-plants) - successfully destroying ammo racks could let off some serious fireworks, and/or spill out into space.

The idea of ammo racks has been suggested ad nauseum, but I agree.

Ammunition having mass would be really fun. It would alter the balance of kinetic weapons, whereas energy weapons require no extra mass on board. So, as you fire your cannons / railguns etc, your ship would marginally get lighter and more maneuverable, and have longer jump ranges. Destroying someone's ammo storage would cripple that weapon, at least partially depleting ammunition.

I'd like to see the magazine as a targetable part. In naval warfare the magazine is one of the most important targets on large naval vessels. A large magazine allowing extended stay ability but it's risky to have. Go full mech warrior on it and risk having a shell blow up inside you.
