From above link said:
Eagles guitarist Glenn Frey has died at the age of 67, the band has announced.
He died in New York City on Monday from complications arising from rheumatoid arthritis, colitis and pneumonia.
"Words can neither describe our sorrow, nor our love and respect for all that he has given to us," his family and fellow band members said.
The Eagles were one of the most successful bands of the 1970s, with multiple hit singles including Hotel California, in 1976.
Frey co-founded the Eagles in 1971 with Don Henley, Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner.
He co-wrote Hotel California with Henley, and composed a number of the band's biggest songs on his own, including Heartache Tonight and Lyin' Eyes.

Another great man gone.

18 days in to 2016 and we've lost 3 of the best.

Let's hope the rest of year is better, way way better.

This thread was premonitory. RIP Glenn

This thread was the spawn of the ever fun groups mega.
And so far, it has been waaaaaay more interesting ;)

But yea, the name / timing is weird.

Let's hope that's all the bad news for 2016.
Perhaps I should buy a lottery ticket ;)

We could all compile a list of songs which were pretty good on first hearing, but got old and annoying very fast, then have a poll on which is the most annoying.

The main criteria is the song must have been at or near the top of the charts, at least for a time.

To start the list:

Hotel California,
Whiter Shade of Pale
Mull of Kintyre,
Albatross,
Bohemian Rhapsody

I can add a load more, but it's 4am and I'm only here because of insomnia.

Fixed that for you.
We have a winner!

Dear surviving musicians:
Please stop dying.
(Justin Bieber, Barry Manilow, 1D and any ex-Pistols who haven't already imploded are obviously excluded - please don't let me keep you)

Thank you

I'd never heard of Mull of Kintyre before, some how I'd managed to miss out on it.

I could have spent the rest of my life not knowing about that, that's 4 minutes I'll never get back :(

So far the first three weeks of this year remind me of this:

And then I heard a disembodied voice.
"Cheer up and smile", the voice said, "things could be worse."
So I cheered up and smiled...
...and then things went worse.
