[Suggestion] Multicrew: Tactical View/Commander

Ok, why would I want to be in a crew onboard of another (big) ship?
Maybe I want to be a "Tactical Commander".

The Tactical Commander is responsible for greater war tactics and organizing up to five wings to defend the main
ship/planet or lead attacks on other fleets/Ships/wings.

He/she will see what`s happening around the main ship, will be able to assign different targets to different wings, define sectors where each wing should be
positioned and which sort of attack the wingleader should perform.
He/she will also be alerted when stats of wingmembers are going down to immediatly dismiss a wingmember and bring in the reserve.

The Tactical Commander will examine the enemies ships (via 3D rotatable spherical map) and read indepth scanning results to come up with the best strategy on how to attack/defend.

He/she will then communicate the whole strategy to the wings, after he/she got the clearance from the main ship commander.

Etc., etc.. Feel free to add more functions and stuff for ... the ... Tactical Commander... :)

On the subject of spherical maps, I think Age of Ascent nailed as good as it will ever get. The most important bit is that the map icons rotate at a rate scaled against your perspective. If you post your nose at an enemy icon on the map, you will be looking directly at the enemy ship. It makes for very intuitive situational awareness.

thanks for that example, didnt know about age of ascent.

Pretty nice idea, the only thing : Is the name ;) i think the strategic decision should belong to the captain when in a single ship or a fleet amiral (or a tad smaller for smaller formation ) it does change nothing to your suggestion it's just a question of position name and hierarchy ^^
