So I was hunting in a RES and accidentally killed a "clean" python - so i figured i'd buy a sidey and get scanned, killed, and get the bounty dormant. Did that and chose the free sidewinder instead of insurance, only to find myself back in the starting system, 300ly away from my Vulture.

Bah! :(

Bought an eagle to make the trip slightly shorter, with the potential of turning it into a mini fighter at some point. I hate myself right now.

Yeah, I did this a few weeks ago too.

Thought I was being smart, next thing I know I'm buying a class A FSD for a sidewinder to get back to my fleet.

I think I even made a thread about it, just like you.

Live and learn, man.

Ha! At least i'm not the only one :)

Now I have to pick the wife up from a meeting and explain to her that the movie i'd said we would watch tonight will have to be postponed due to unforseen star crossing. Its not going to go down well!

For future reference. Buy and setup a taxi hauler and leave it in LHS 3447. That way if something bad happens, it is already sitting there waiting. Just hop in and go.

Oops, next time buy a hauler, take off the weapon and shields. A rate the FSD, do rate EVERYTHING else, boom 32 ly jump range. Makes the trip of shame take less time.

Don't sweat it, I just made a schoolboy error, I'm a little bit wanted in a system but I needed to go dock, not a problem.

Except while I'm boosting towards the letter box and the feds are shooting me I forgot to request docking.

So now system security and the station want me dead.

Quick FA off flip, bounce off the back end of the station and boost out, Run the gauntlet again, frantically boosting until I can jump.

Shields went down but luckily I got away.

Why am I so stupid.

Edit: worst thing was there was cmdr sitting in dock, man I hope he wasn't watching!

If he pre positions the hauler; than it is more like an planned decision.

What I do is dock at the local station, buy the suicisidey. Then undock and lose my sanity for 5 seconds firing lasers in every direction until the station vaporizes me. Then i pay my insurance dues and bam im in the station again with dormant bounties and no trip needed.

That is exactly what I should have done - but the non-reading penny-pinching side of me figured i didn't need to pay the <2000cr insurance. Tonight has been one nightmare after another on this game! God help those NPC pirates tomorrow!!

I made a similar schoolboy error the day before yesterday. acquired a sizeable bounty doing powerplay stuff, turned in my merits, headed back to the station in the system where I had the bounty, bought a sidey, died, then just as I was selling the sidey to jump back into my vulture realised that I hadn't claimed 7 million in bounties in various places that I had picked up with my warrant scanner, only seven million, could be worse, but felt like the wind had blown a tenner out of my hand.
At least I remembered to turn my merits in....

Man, things are going from bad to worse for me. Figured i'd take my Vulture to the nearest station I know of that has fairly good equipment (Bassa) - only to find myself low on fuel and surrounded by unscoopable stars.

First time self destructing. It hurt so much to press that button.

500k bounties lost, and 400k insurance. Expensive trip for me considering I only have 2m cr now.

I really ought to be more careful

Why didn't you come to the forums to ask for help? There is a group of players (fuel rats) that will come refuel you!
