All coming along nicely here! I'm actually brimming with mirth!

A little thing... Ctrl F doesn't bring up FPS for me - it simply creates a bit of downward thrust.

Any way round this?

It's in users/<name>/appdata (a hidden folder) somewhere.

Here's the fix to force it elsewhere:

I have noticed that a lot of people use the same setup as myself. A small SSD drive for their OS install and a larger separate drive for games. The latest ED client forces people to use the OS drive for the game files. This is not ideal for those with restricted space.

Here are some instructions for installing ED to your preferred drive and folder. I have tested and verified this works a few times now.

Kudos to TheDarkKnight for the easier and refined version. I have edited the OP so his instructions are on the main post.

1. Run the Client-Installer.exe
2. Choose the drive and or folder you wish to use. In my case D:\Elite
3. Let the launcher install finish, if it is running, close the launcher window, do not login
4. Navigate to where you installed the launcher, in my case D:\Elite, and create a folder called Products in the launcher folder. EG: - D:\Elite\Products
5. Now start the launcher again, log in and install the client.
6. When the download is complete you should see the install as automatically installed the client in the folder you created called Product.

This workaround will hopefully only be short lived. I am sure FD will get us an updated client installer than restores the option to chose your ED install location.

Don't worry it's not that hard as long as you don't panic. Get used to how your ship handles going through the asteroid belt. Hopefully by the time the full Beta is released they will have sorted out the docking controller's medication so you won't have all of the pad re-allocation issues that plagued earlier builds of Alpha 3

I think FPS reporting was removed in alpha 1.2, and reinstated later

Hi, I upgraded to premium Beta at 100% discount, which I'm guessing was in error. Now the order status is stuck on 'Pending'. I sent a message to the store support so hopefully it will get sorted later when it's office hours.

Yes. 'Real' beta starts for premium beta backers on the 30th May, following an alpha backer only exclusive access period of two weeks.

Totally a giddy girl today. I wasn't expecting to be able to play till the end of May .. I'm about to play Elite Dangerous for the first time !!! Its just finished installing. Now I have to go to the computer store and buy a new graphics card. Yay !

It would seem that the controller choice is very important. Really struggling with mouse and keys. Sadly being a leftie mean I have not the best choice when it comes to joysticks. Any ideas ?

V1.2 only supports ONE input (i.e. joystick/pedals/etc) device. If you have a joystick and pedals, it won't work. Unplug the pedals, and you'll be ok with just the stick.

Multiple device support wasn't added until later.

So am I right in thinking this is not a beta then? It's a delayed and re-run Alpha? If so that sucks because all the betas are doing are rediscovering the same old Alpha bugs like this one.

Yes, that's how it looks. But hey, at least us Beta's now have something. Any alpha's complaining need to grow up. You can't be the exclusive one's forever. I'm just happy to feel the game a bit. My PC seems to handle it very well, but controller wise ...Aaarrrrgghhhhh. I'm going to go for a Scitec fly 5. Seems the best value and something I can even use.
Its fun again playing and Elite game. I did get to Deadly on Frontier ( Amiga 1200, 10 Mb ram , 28mhz 68030 ) .. Them were the days. Even my girlfriend back then played for months with me ... Hehe. Lets see if after all this time my wife will.
