Alpha build 2 for premium beta?

I apologize in advance if I have missed where/if this was announced, but has there been any word about when Alpha build 2 and 3 may be passed to the premium beta backers? My understanding is the process will be a build is released to alpha, then premium beta (after a 2 week "exclusivity period"?), then standard beta. I've heard that the full beta begins on May 30, but not sure what that means. Could someone point me to a thread or explain? Thanks.

No, the next build you van access will be the first premium beta build.

Michael

Ok, thanks for clarifying. I assume the build flow as I described above (with exclusivity period) will be what's in place once premium beta starts, with the obvious exception of no standard beta participants yet. I think I get it now.

Surely you will get all of the features that have been Alpha tested up until that point in the first Beta. Otherwise it kind of makes Alpha a bit pointless if they're just rolling out old builds?

It makes no sense to continue development on single-player alpha! We are nearly at 4.0, why spend time an money on old code for beta, when their pledge level hasn't reached live status yet?

Even the 'old builds' are not really old. The single player stuff that has been released to beta backers is not the same as the alpha 1.0. It may contain the exact same missions, but it includes various bug fixes, AI improvements, and so on.

Yes, I assume that's how it will work. I wasn't very clear before but here's how it seems it will work to me:

- Premium Beta backers get Alpha build 1 from now until May 30 when Premium Beta starts
- On May 30, Premium Beta backers will get beta build 1 which will include alphas 1 thru 4; Alpha backers will get a new build that will be subsequently released to the wider premium beta community 2 weeks later

Not sure when standard beta comes into the picture but they probably haven't released that information yet. I'm also not sure if the above is accurate at all, but that's my assumption based on what I've read so far.

I doubt this build is in the dev cycle. My suspicion is it's just a reward to premium beta backers. From now to May 30 they're probably only using alpha testers as part of the dev cycle. I could be wrong.

More like, two weeks before May 30th the alpha testers will receive an update moving them to the very first beta build. On May 30th the game officially goes in to the Premium Beta stage and both Alpha and Premium Beta pledgers get access to the Premium Beta. When a new build is ready for the Beta it is first deployed to the Alpha pledgers, if there are no serious issues with the build it's pushed out to the Premium Beta pledgers as well.

That's my understanding of it anyway.

This^^^

I believe they may keep the solo combat scenarios (good for new players) but I suspect the beta release will be totally rewritten. Alpha will be gone the way of the 8-bit platform, never to be seen again.
It will be remembered for it's spinning ships of doom and it's Impeccable Defence orgies and a few select memories, mostly documented by YouTube videos and twitch feeds. The angst will fade over time as the standard betas join with the Gammas and comm. Releasers against the merged faction that is Alphas and Premium Betas and the cycle of life begins anew.
Galactic Natural Laws of Murphy!??? ;)

Right...that would make more sense.
