ANNOUNCEMENT Server downtime - bonus credit weekend

worth to mention since so many are unhappy when FD are showing some goodwill: i played another game which i shall not mention... *thinking about world of tanks quietly for myself for some reason*
think it was yesterday or day before that, many could not log in for several hours (so lot of lost game time lately for me!), also loosing premium time in the process (prem. = 50% bonus to earnings there, so its really hurting in a game that 1000 times more grindy than Elite ever been). now this tends to happen almost evry time i have premium time there, or its completely unplayable bec there servers are crap. but i never ever got any compensation whatsoever ofc... and those servers are down a lot more often than Elites are!

so gj FD

Wouldn't a <insert amount> credit gift be a better idea, so nobody gets left out?

Then you have a scaling problem - a fixed chunk of money can be anything from a gamechanger to something barely noticable, depending on how far your account is into the grind.

premium time

Those people loose potential sales for compensating their players - Frontier doesn't sell grind boosts.

Greetings Commanders.

As many of you will know, last night we suffered unexpected server downtime which lasted for a considerable number of hours.

By way of a thank you for your patience and to cover any unexpected small fines due to the time delay, we will be running a 48 hour bonus credit period for all Commanders in the galaxy.

All mission reward credits, bounties and combat bonds will receive a 20% uplift when cashing them in.

Missions will show as the same reward but should add 20% as a bonus when cashing in. Bounties will also say the same amount has been claimed but will then increase in your transactions. As will combat bonds.

The bonus period will be available from 14:00 GMT (30 minutes time) today until 14:00 GMT Monday 1st Feb.

This will be applied to all platforms (PC, Mac & Xbox One)

Once again thank you so much for your patience while the servers were fixed. We truly appreciate your fantastic ongoing support.

Fly safe Commanders!

That's very cool of you guys. Thank you for the gesture of good will :)

No not remotely. It would set even more of a precedent and then people would fight over what figure is "reasonable" to them, how long does the server have to be down for people to start asking again, is the amount tied to the length of DT.

It seems to be rather unfair to say sorry only to the people who can play this weekend. To me that is far worse than any fears you may have. My thinking was that FD would decide on a fair amount ( percentage or whatever ) and people would have to accept it, in much the same way that those who can't play this weekend will currently have to accept nothing.

However, it's certainly not worth arguing over and I don't require any compensation myself. I don't really care what happens if I'm honest. It just strikes me as a little unfair to anybody who can't play during the bonus period.

Then you have a scaling problem - a fixed chunk of money can be anything from a gamechanger to something barely noticable, depending on how far your account is into the grind.

As above, wouldn't a percentage of each player's gross earnings solve this issue?

I am not getting this bonus. I have tested it with Bounties and with combat bonds.

It might be due to me already getting a bounty bonus as part of the Hudson power bonus but I have video showing no extra 20%.

they also award players with premium time for completing certain missions, but to earn it requires hard work and comitment.. and then u loose it and get no compensation..... my point: FD dont do that

[edited: was never my intention to use what can be precieved as foul language or masked ditto, my bad! however now this post makes 0 sence]

I had traveled from the far-side of the bubble to Robigo Mines, waited 40 minutes to get 5 smuggling missions and I was in the LAST frame-shift animation to the destination system when the game crashed yesterday. No guarantee I wouldn't have outrun a scan while trying to port but I've never failed boosting away on all previous Illicit cargo runs so I like to think it unlikely I would have failed. Woke up today, get in and see all missions have timed-out (as expected) but see a notice I can do missions and get a 20% bonus this weekend. Wow.. I can do that run 5 times, taking 5 missions each time, and be close to breaking even. Ugh, not how I want to spend my weekend playing.

Players exploring didn't loose exploration data, players trading didn't loose trade goods, players fighting didn't loose bounties, but players doing missions failed their missions. I know there's nothing FD can do that will satisfy everyone but I think extending mission timers would have been a start. Then all losses would've been the same, not being able to play for a few hours.

I am not seeing any 20% increase for missions compared to the stated amount. Do we need to do something to make this work? I will say the missions seemed to be paying more than usual, but this might be a coincidence :)

Those precious seconds of my life...
seconds I would have spent,
scratching my gonads or shuffling through an airline's departure
lounge.
Or sitting in a marketing meeting, wondering how if I could kill myself
by swallowing my own tongue,
breathing the carbon exhaust of the car ahead of me in rush hour
traffic.
Curse you FD, I want those moments BACK!

No bonus for me either. Just cashed in 650k bounties, didn't get a single bonus credit.

Not being able to complete missions is just the same as not being able to hunt for bounties or scan systems and planets. It's all the same, doing missions isn't more valuable or important then everything else other people do. Just because you do that doesn't mean downtime is more unfair to you.
