English is my first language, and I use it very well thank you
Lie of omission is not a phrase I have cobbled together for this post, it is a well know and much used English phrase. Maybe you haven't heard it before?
Wikipedia isn't my favorite source but this describes it well:
Lying by omission
Also known as a continuing misrepresentation, a lie by omission occurs when an important fact is left out in order to foster a misconception. Lying by omission includes failures to correct pre-existing misconceptions.
Source
The part about fostering a misconception is important, if the intent is to deceive then it is a lie regardless of the method used.
That said I wasn't trying to troll. My objection is less with AntiFed and more with using Spock an a source of wisdom, especially considering the quote was factually and morally wrong.
As much as I like to laugh at the comments/captions you make on your videos Ant, this is one of your trolliest.
A lie is a lie, an omission is an omission, when asked a direct question, to omit is to not to tell the whole truth, that however is not the same as lying.
I take it English is not your first language?
