Ships Looking for Allround Python build for running missions

Hi,

I'm just wondering if anyone can help me spec up my python to be an efficient missions runner - Trying to increase Ranking as well.

I'm finding the python quite slow in maneuvering so I put in 2 laser turrets.

Here is my current build.

Any suggestions welcome

Also in your opinions do you think the python is a good choice at the moment for mission running or would there be any other ships that might be a better alternative.

the python is a very good mission runner; especially because missions might go to outposts, you will want to have a ship which can go to outposts.

i personally think for most missions the python is a little bit OP - i'm "more efficient" in running missions in a cobra, which is the best alround mission runner in my opinion; second to a lightweight vulture with fuescoop and cargo space.... but for sure a python will do everything a cobra can do or a vulture, and will do it comfortable - and you can take on cargo missions with 32+ tons of cargo.

concerning your build:

a) fit a (advanced) discovery scanner. surface starports don#t show up with out a scan - and you need a scanner for that. otherwise you might not find the planetary station a mission is going to.

b) i think you are right in fitting turretts, but i would suggest fitting them in the medium hardpoint. medium turrets track faster than large turrets, und you will want to use them against small fast targets like eagles. two beams, or one beam multicannan one beam, or two pulses will do the trick.

c) if you plan on doing smuggling missions, fit a heatsink ... if you plan on using your scb, fit a heatsink

d) if you run missions, you are going to dock often - no need of fitting two scb.

for comparision my multipurpose build (which doesn't differ to much from yours): http://coriolis.io/outfit/python/06...BhCYzBGad2AWR0WOIkQ===?bn=The Circus Horizons

My mission Python.

When I'm grinding for permits I get bored of straight mission running so tend to mix in some SSS/has res/beacons/CZ's hence the more combat oriented load out. I love the python so much. If it had a better jump range I don't think I would use anything else.

Thanks for the advice, I was actually thinking of changing to a cobra as I think it might be more fun.

What's your cobra build?

Thats a nice build, How do you find using the plasma weapons?

For long haul missions (legal cargo) I use this: http://coriolis.io/outfit/python/05...42f.Iw18eQ==.EwBhEYy6e1SA?bn=My current build

IMHO and limited experience, simply putting the highes class A grade components is not always the best approach. For example phyton is not too maneuverable anway so unless you need 30MW of power go with smaller and lighter class A grade powerplant. You will save weight and keep heat efficiency at same time which is important for fuel scooping.

It is slow ship so cannot run away from police so probably not the best for shadow delivery missions. These missions don't have high cargo requirement anyway, so you really don't need 200 cargo units unless you want to stack 20 of them which is not good idea anway...

For shadow delivery I recommend cobra mk3 which is fast and can run away and you can take 3 missions and decent profit per hour without too much stressing about interdictions and police scanning. It is cheap to outfit and which you can easily pay off after very first run...

What type of missions do you plan to run? Personally I prefer a more dedicated build for missions running. I have a Vulture for combat missions and a Python for hauling, both parked at a system with high Imperial presence. In the Python I run standard (not long haul) delivery and smuggling missions so I don't need a fuel scoop nor SCBs. I rather use those slots for more cargo space. The fuel cost can be easily recovered by stacking hauling missions and filling up the remaining cargo space with generic trade commodities. For combat missions, I'll switch over to the Vulture, it saves me the effort of reconfiguring the Python for combat, and it's more fun to fly.

Um... Mixed? Haha.

I am trying to use them on many ships as possible to get practice leading the target and relying less on the indicator (my other regular combat ships are fdl, corvette and conda - all fitted with PA's). I'm getting better but I much prefer rail guns, if only that had a decent amount of ammo.

Back on topic though, the python is great. It took me up to an anaconda as trade fit, done many CZ's etc, speaking of which all pulse is great too.

I know it's an old thred, but I'm looking for inspiration for my brand new Python, and I see some of you use a Detailed Surface Scanner in your builds. Is this necessary in some way for mission running, or is it just to earn some extra credits scanning planets?

Edit:

Ok. I see the use now: you can scan a body and pinpoint exact location of any base/outpost in it, and also see the materials you can gather with your SRV.

Old Faithful

With this setup I can easily switch between BH, cargo delivery and passenger transport.

After spending a lot (too much ) time in my Corvette and Conda I enjoy flying this gem again.
