ANNOUNCEMENT Server downtime - bonus credit weekend

I am continually amazed at how ungrateful some are. This is a gesture of goodwill from FD for the inconvenience caused by an unexpected event. Be thankful. How many other gaming organisations do this for their player base? Not many.
World of Warships for example hold themselves out there as a "free to play" game yet are geared up to suck your $$ at every turn, and dont communicate well at all.

Well done and thank you FD.

Actually it's pretty common when there unexpected downtime for mmos to put in a bonus XP weekend so common in fact most mmoers expect it now or atleast are not surprised to see such.

While its a nice gesture IMO either make it work for everyone or just don't bother if its too complicated.

Besides the glitch I've spoken of, I'm getting the impression some people haven't considered the fact that the payout looks the same on the top right but the transaction tab indeed boosts the income of those ships that credit to it.

For those saying this is not working, please keep in mind that the 20% bonus is applied behind the scenes, so you will not see that displayed on the screen at all.

Let's say you do a mission with a reward of 100 credits. When you cash in the mission, it will still show your reward as 100 credits, but your credit balances should go up by 120. It's working for me for the items I've tried that are listed in the OP here.

Managed a quick mission, and the bonus definitely worked for me. :)

Normal amount shown as reward, but actual credits went up by 1.2 times that.

Sorry to disagree, but some people will view unexpected downtime, unless it was a DOS attack, to be due to a fault that FD could have avoided in some way.
The same people will see it as FD not allowing them to use their product, which they pay rather handsomely for, and so feel aggrieved that some members of the community were compensated for their loss of game time, while others were not, regardless of whether there were missions attached to their reduced game time.

As I said in another post here a free paint job, perhaps would have been a better form of compensation.

I tend to trade and I wasn't playing during the outage time so it is of no consequence to me, but I feel if FD intend to grant compensation in some form, the gesture is better served making an offer that is available to all. They could make it a downloadable digital product that would need to be claimed by a certain time from your download page. Then those who wanted to take advantage of the offer could, and those who felt they were owed nothing from FD could let the download expire without downloading.

Yeah, yeah. Sort of like being unaffected but still cashing in, right?

I guess once Frontier notices how much anger their 20% bonus sparks, they'll think again next time.

As ridiculous as the issue is...sometimes it's better to duck and take it if you can't come up with a proper way to address the issue. Some minor
in-game inconvenience isn't the issue. The issue is relatively frequent service problems during the weekend. So it really shouldn't come as a
surprise that quite a few don't really like this solution. Specifically with ED.

The average playtime of the game is just 60h. That's not exactly what you would expect from a game like ED. WoW for example has an average
of over 20h...the week. With the upshifted demographics and the relatively frequent issues on weekends...what does that likely tell you?

It either means a substantial amount of owners isn't playing the game and FD has random server issues on weekends for fun or a substantial
amount of players mostly play on weekends when they have time to play and that's when and why servers get bottlenecked or run into walls.

I'd assume the latter. Would Zac's post do anything for those guys? The majority of them won't have the in-game inconveniences that were addressed.
So this solution does absolutely nothing. What they more likely than not would have liked to hear is that the weekend issues get addressed so they
can actually have such in-game inconveniences.

Personally I don't have such issues. But if I would be limited to weekends I likely would get a bit angry as well. It's not exactly a hyperbole to say
that service performance during weekends isn't the greatest around. It's why I didn't even notice the issue. I currently don't play ED on weekends
because of these rather frequent issues. If that's when you can play, the service in general isn't perceived to be the best. Doesn't really matter if it
works mostly fine the other 5 days does it?

So for me? A non issue either way. For what I think is a quite substantial amount of players? Not that good.

Wow thanks Zac and frontier.
22 jumps out 356LR, was exploring and listening to Hutton Orbital.
Glad I had a look at the forums and I didnt jump any further out.
Heading back to Trade in my exploration data and outfit my craft to do missions.
Shame found a load of systems that were not explored by any players. will go back next week.
Have a safe trip CMDRS

All nice and all... but does anybody knows when the BGS updates nowadays? We've been stuck in the same tick for 2 ticks now.. I like the free bonus, i'd love the info about the BGS update more!

Is this happening again? I've just been logged during a jump - while on a mission - and can't get back in due to not being able to communicate with the 'adjudication server'...

wish i could still play the game,, when i use galaxy map,, after 1mins,, i get a windows error,, `CMDR-MOLEK322-WT,, i can play any other game ie,,star citizen,, perfectly fine, but since the otherday now on horizons/`ED` i get that error memory low,, from windows,, [[execute application]] now```
