Distant Worlds - A journey beyond the Abyss

If I continue on DW in my own time, to have felt like I did it like the rest of you I will be going to all the waypoints, and if they have still to be revealed by your good self, I will still go to the area in each waypoint, then on to the next. :)

I might get there before or after all of you, but I will get there

It's almost as if you read my mind there. This is my strategy too. :)

As I go along, if I can meet up with others, I will. And indeed I have.

Most people were wanting way points in advance because they were making far faster progress than the main fleet.

that can't be right. how can 'most' people be ahead of the main fleet?

anywho, the point was to do it as a fleet or do your own thing and meet up when it suits you. i haven't even left the bubble yet! as has already been shown the general area for waypoints is freely available i'm sure anyone wouldn' be more than a hand full of jumps for the official WP if they were in the local area.

see you out there soon

Dear sweet loveable fellow exploristas

However you chose to explore, it's fine. It's better than fine, it's great. But ... don't make demands! If you can't keep up, you're not alone. Lots of players can't and it can be organised so a more relaxed schedule is set. But .... don't demand the already overburdened DW organisers organise it. If you're ahead, great! Get together with those who are ahead and creatr a fast paced community. But ... don't demand the already overburdened DW organisers organise it.

There is no right or wrong way to get to Beagle Point. But there is a DW way. Players can individually opt to go along with this or not.

Sorry meant it as most people asking for way points in advance, not most people in the fleet.

Don't worry about not even leaving the bubble, I'm still over 4K away on the way back to the bubble. I think a few more people will be doing return trips before too long.

This is an internet forum.

Attempting to educate and elucidate people in your perceived definition of an acceptable 'tone' of speech is a non-starter I'm afraid :)

I'm half German. It's in my genes to believe that anything can be regulated if you just throw enough forms at it.

Just out of interest, while we're discussing the expedition status of those who go ahead and those who lag behind... what is the expedition status of those who choose to go back to Human space to refit/repair/rearm and then return?

As a full German, I now feel insulted and will consult the regulations on how to react. (Or I might let the 1/8 French take over and surrender.)

Personally or 'officially'?

Personally. Around WP2 I had a disagreement with a >2g planet and lost >30% hull. decided to head back for repairs. then decided to stick around and race around in circles for a while. Will join up with the fleet at Sag A* to complete my A* Challenge

Officially? no idea and i'm sure pretty much no one is bothered. :)

As a Celt I'm wishing everybody would just get along in a spirit of harmony while plotting murder behind your backs.
Did I say that out loud?

*Cough* anyway, looks like I'll not make the grand departure tonight as I've run into a hefty patch of !!SCIENCE!! that needs doing; someone asked yesterday what the number of landable planets in the galaxy is and I'm working on that, should have a better guess fairly soon and more besides.

Most people were wanting way points in advance because they were making far faster progress than the main fleet.
Regarding that point, i'd say that approximate waypoints are already given and should be enough for those wanting to go faster. That's how i did my Sag A* trip around New Year, along the DW route.
I mean generally, the waypoints are enough to get you to the wide area of interest, the landing planet itself might be nice but isn't the main point, except in terms of allowing a lot of people to regroup (which can as well be organised by those interested at whatever system in the vicinity without distracting from the experience).

The alternative (if all WPs were communicated) would be those people ending up stopping at a system which then has to be changed by Erimus and won't be the real waypoint anyway (as he said it happened for WP7), so all in all a lot of trouble for nothing.

That being said i do agree with you regarding the tone of the "quit it" posts, which is unnecessary. However one thing you also have to take into account is that while you have been discussing the thing quite civilly, there have also been a few posts where people were much more aggressive (not necessarily many but it tends to stick more in peoples mind).
I guess people tend to put all those together resulting in a more fed up/aggressive tone on their side too than what your own posts warrant :/ (not that that makes it right, but it's an unavoidable part of the whole massive forum thing)

i thought i was the only one with Pink/Desert Sand paint job! nice find

Thanks. I used to have Rose synth until I went back. I'm currently heading back again and tradition says I need another colour. I figured the pink / desert sand was quite neutral without being too dark so would look good in the photos without detracting from the main subject. I think it works well.

Considering vibrant yellow next.

As a Yorkshireman, I would just like to point out that we had it much harder back when we were kids. Back then we thought ourselves lucky if we could organise 10 people on the Internet without 12 of them complaining.

You had an internet? You were lucky. When I were a lass we had to use typewriters and pass each other slips of paper.
