Unidentified Spacecraft "S6: 7".

(ii) Non-thargoid alien race infiltrator: Based on the idea that they've confirmed there is more out there than the bugs, and Drew Wager's lore is considered canon (I'm going to reread his Oolite trilogy in preparation for this)

My Oolite Saga is *not* canon, however ER is, as is the information on my website, until it's contradicted by anything FD does in the future. (There has been some retcon in the past.)

Cheers,

Drew.

Taking my Gung-Ho "if it moves is a Thargoid, if it doesn't move its a well disciplined Thargoid!" hat off for a moment (and stowing the vintage M388 Davey Crockett for a mo)

This "DBX" is probably an story setup for the emergence of Engineers and Synthesis with blue prints. I only wish it were thargoids...

As the populace race to the 'Alien' theory, lock and load and all that.

Why would the Aliens be flying a DBX? .... Intelligent enough to cross Galaxies, but not to invent there own vessel in which to do it!!!!!!!

A human faction is obviously experimenting with alien tech.. It's probably related to that persistent crashed Anaconda near the barnacles with all the suspicious containers scattered about..

And around an hour ago, I had just got done transferring fuel to a Diamondback Explorer NPC named S8: 9 at a distress call. It went faster than what any other vessel could possibly go when it flew off.

Holy cross of Jesus.

I don't know if this have been posted, but which system did you find S8: 9 in?

'According to Chloe Anders, a member of the surveillance team at Christian Dock...'

I'd just like to take a minute to apologise on behalf of the Anders family. After a moderately traumatic childhood I'm afraid my cousin Chloe developed a powerful affinity with the ol' Lavian Brandy and although we try to keep her away from communication arrays, explosives and married commanders when she's having one of her 'episodes' it's difficult to watch somebody all the time.

:D

Probably testing of the new military drive systems.

This is a good idea, but there is a catch or two.
If they are testing military drives, why would they need a refuel of regular juice? Do they have dual drives?

Why so fast? Military thrusters as well? (that would be nice).

Helping the enemy in a time of war is treason......

Oh sorry, forgot we are not at war (yet).

I'd be okay with the Thargoids flying human-designed ships... as long as their motherships are big dang octogons.

Actually this would also explain how in Elite 1 Thargoids were always with pirate ships, maybe the pirates weren't pirates but duplicates

a better question is why scan the station if its a drive test?.

Hi Guys,

First time posting here, and I may not be 100% up to speed on all the goings on with regards to Galnet or Elite lore, however, I would like to give some input.

S6: 7, the ship was referred to as unidentified as a result of this 'unknown configuration'. The ship is faster than what we are familiar with, and why has no one else mentioned the obvious here, scanning a station from 10km..now, I'm not running a high tear ship as of yet, but im willing to bet even an A Rating scanner does not have a 10km range??

Based on what Frontier are already promising are in the works at the moment, I doubt these ships are alien, entirely. The meta-alloy storyline is the perfect opportunity to introduce new technology, Frontier have already talked about the crafting and loot system, meta-alloy is an alien material that we as humans will use to build new technologies, longer range scanners, more powerful engines etc.

To me, the scenario reads thus;

An organisation or government has used meta-alloys to enhance (or craft) systems on board DBX ships, and have been testing them in open space resulting in sightings (think F117 Nighthawk stealth fighter sightings), they will eventually come forward and state that meta-alloys can be used to craft enhanced systems on player ships, therefore introducing the looting and crafting system to players.

We know that the meta-alloy is alien in origin, we also know that it can be used to protect complex systems from the damaging effect of the UA's (see article referring to station using the material to solve system outages recently), which means that crafting will be necessary to protect our systems when we ultimately encounter this alien in ernest, im thinking things like enhanced armour or perhaps FSD shielding to prevent mid warp interdiction (if we are indeed talking Thargoids).

Those are my thoughts, and as such i am pumped for what these guys have in store for us.

CMDR Wolfbane out.

Thanx, this makes perfect sense for me.

Apologies old chap. I was going on the concept that the woman in the hospital was the character from Oolite.

Are you serious?

You're saying it's open laziness for Frontier to model unique looking alien ships?

Okay - for a start, who said the ship was piloted by an alien?

There are plenty of human candidates for unknown unresponsive pilots: INRA for one. There are also lost generation ships. It is possible this is simply another faction. Or, as someone else has already pointed out, it is a prelude to Engineers: i.e. someone just showing off their crafting ability.

The only tenuous link to a possible alien connection is the thought that the UAs scanned all our ship types. And as yet, nothing links the UAs to the Thargoids in any way, or as yet to any other Alien species. They could be humans testing out classified Alien tech (after all the UAs do transmit Morse Code.)

So there is nothing so far that says this is an Alien encounter.

To prove it, all you need to do is find another S ship in distress, slide up to the cockpit canopy, and take a screenshot so we can all see the pilot. Then I'll agree that this is Aliens.
