Name change?

Many people have joined Elite: Dangerous only to no longer play anymore.

Would it be game breaking to your system, Frontier, if you allowed a name change?

I am Odys. Someone actually took Odys first so my commander is Commander Odys_ and I hate having that _ there. Any chance of stealing that Odys off the person who may or may not play anymore?

(Pretty certain they are NOT playing. I was able to get Odys on the forums without a fight a year ago. If they don't visit these forums, they don't play anymore. Pretty easy to be certain of that.)

Just ask in a support ticket, they are pretty easy about it.

Maybe that player is deleted and restarted with a new name, so why not try?

But I am equally sure if he exists, playing or not, you are unlikely to get a name change.

Could be a player who checked out Open Play for awhile then decided to go Solo Play 100%. The name is still valid.

This is a fallacy. The forum name is completely independent from the game name, and not everyone playing the game ever signed up for the forum. So it's absolutely no way to be certain that they don't play anymore based on that.

@Janichsan haha what? You mean my logic there isn't 100% fool-proof? Lol I know, man. But thanks for the condescension. Plus, I made the point myself that the forum I was able to get Odys. Pretty obvious that I already understood that. I was just saying that because I was able to get it here that there is an optimistic chance I am more active than the other Odys and quite possibly the only one active.

If if you weren't meaning to be rude to me and I just read your message that way, I apologize for being sarcastic back at ya.

@hooplah I don't believe you are correct. I am Odys_ in both solo and open. It is my commander name in both. There isn't a separate name server for each instance.

Thanks for for the responses guys, will try my luck with frontier customer service and see how willing they are to work with me.
