No beta at all?

Wow! I had to spend $80 to get into any beta at all??? I guess I should have read the fine print. That is ridiculous.

Sad thing is I did up my backing a few months ago, but my account still does not show it. I wonder if it ever will.

By the time I get access to this game SC will be in full swing*, and I won't have much reason to come back here. So ED is really shooting themselves in the foot trying to squeeze more money out of people.

bad business practice is bad..

Lol, sure it will :D

IIRC it was the £32 level in the Kickstarter, something like start on the edge of Imperial space with an Eagle Mk2 and 1000 credits. I'm sure someone that cares more than me will link the page with the correct details.

Just for absolute clarification:

Beta starts properly in mid-May (if you're in alpha).
The same build becomes available to beta backers at the end of May, two weeks* later.

I will not point out the fact that some who are pointing to clearly worded Kickstarter pledge levels think that the same clearly worded pledges are entirely subject to interpretation when it suits them.

*Previously, 'a couple of hours'.

OK, I upgraded in Premium Beta.

Playing with keyboard and mouse was quite challenging; but with my ~14 years old Gravis Blackhawk joystick that was not used for over 10 years it is so addicting and I must admit - I am having a blast !!!

Now the question, will Premium Beta users see anything beyond those 9 single player combat missions before 30/MAY ? Do not get me wrong, but I want to see the STARS :D

Hi Silverflyer,

Pretty sure Michael Brookes has said that there'll be no further builds for 'premium' beta until the 30th May: we're stuck with the old alpha 1.1.

We will have to watch Youtube, I'm afraid.

Uffff... I so much wish and hope that you are wrong :(

9 single player missions for almost 50 days and $$$ I paid for upgrade  yes, I so much hope you are wrong.

My understanding is that Alpha 4.0 IS Beta 1.0 before we monocle-wearers give it the once over. Beta DOES NOT start in mid-may, that is Alpha 4.0. Beta 1.0 is out at the end of May. I object to your phraseology reflecting your issues with the Alpha/Beta crossover and misinforming new people to the boards.

The first premium beta build is May 30th, the alpha 1.1 build was just a taster so you could get used to the controls and have a bit of a play. You haven't been given alpha access.

I for one am very happy with this early alpha release for us premium beta backers. It is the perfect environment to get our control sets sorted out before the big beta release :) N.B. I for one, am very happy with all that I have heard reference the emerging alpha/beta process. I DONATED to get the game made and to take part in a beta test and that means testing a game that has most of the game dynamics implemented and MOST of the major bugs ironed out..... Well done Frontier, you are delivering everything I expected and wanted, and as long as you keep delivering, I am willing to wait for it :)

Hmmm,
I just went back to Kickstarter to check where I'm at and I'm at the £150 tier.
Does this mean that I should have got some sort of link to play this round of beta (or am i one of the May 30th Betas?)

If you log in to the store you should be able to download the Alpha 1.1 build that has been made available to premium beta backers. IF you have any problems contact store support - support@zaonce.net

Well said, completely agree.
Also upgraded to Premium Beta yesterday and really enjoying the dog-fighting.
But it has made me realise how rusty both my dog-fighting skills and joystick are ;)

Well done to all involved!

Well you are the boss and I still love Elite way too much and want you to help to raise even more $$$. That being said, how about letting us (20-30 days from now) to test station docking as well. I am sure that all Premium Beta testers would test it like there is no tomorrow. ;)

+ you would attract many more people ($$$) that do not see dog fighting as something really primary in the game. :D

Multiplayer and access to the Milky Way's star systems is the real thing, but it would stay reserved for Alpha backers.
