Came across a beefy convoy between OO and Maia b1ba. Handful (4) of anacodas and a vulture all escorting a type9.. About 300k from the system arrival point. Could this be the Palin convoy? Kicking myself for not having a cargo scanner with me.

Edit: 3 anacondas, 1 vulture and a FDS escorting one type 9. Cargo unknown

Here's the video of 2(?) unknown ships/objects at OO i mentioned a few posts back. I feel like it's displaying exactly the behavior that has been reported recently, including appearing and disappearing from the scanner and refusing to be locked on to. But to be honest I'm not sure what to make of it. Glitch or time for more tinfoil?

These ships are breaking the 4th wall by mimicking the "docked CMDR flying circles outside" glitch. That way, everybody can attack your video evidence by saying, it is said glitch.
However, ships affected by this glitch are target-able and fly their circles in an area front of the station. Your ships circle the station close to its center, if I saw correctly.

Just to check, the object IS visible to you right?
Yes, it comes out clearly on the video.
I'm scratching my head as well. Given that Galnet post recently about odd ships near OO, I'm prepared to accept that it could be one of those ships. Which makes the plot thicken like bad gravy. ;)

Here is the latest Version of my "Barnacle analysis" chart. I have added one more Barnacle of PS JC-U B3-2 planet 1 and more analysis data for the Barnacles of planet 2.

Yup. The disappearing radar contact is most intriguing to me. If you spot it again, try heading it off. Seemed to be in a consistent orbit?

I hate to be the one who says it, but I think we're done with the barnacle storyline right now, until FD drop the next ingredient into the mix. Everything that could be analyzed has been, every possible glitch refuted.

I don't know why it's being dragged out for so long, but I think it's overdue time for the next 'episode'.

Nice video. It gives a good view of the phenomena that has been observed by quite a few commanders now.

I'm not sure if this is a glitch or not, but I'm leaning towards it being intended behaviour. It seem impossible to interact with it a the moment. It has no target box and no listing in the contact panel. It's of course possible to try to shot it with a fixed weapon, but I doubt it would work. Even if it works, it might not be a wise approach.

In other news:

I checked out the crashed Conda on B3-2 1. It is exactly like the other one in Obsidian Ant's video. Both are missing the central pilot seat, but have the two other bridge seats. This is probably just because the pilot seat is not strictly part of the Anaconda model, but a common object.

Other than this, the Conda is in perfect shape. It has quit a lot of wear an tear, but other than that it's undamaged. All eight Escape hatches are intact.

The only strange thing with the Conda wrecks are the large metal debris that are scattered among the crates. I have no Idea where they come from. They are not parts from the ship.

Great vid, Snooch.

Looking at it a couple of times, the presence of a radar contact is most intriguing. Also, it doesn't move like dear old 'Bob' (who's now meant to be gone anyway) and so I'm inclined to think that this represents something new, significant, and likely related to the mystery DBx.

Great work.

Doesn't look like there's any chance of catching up with the thing though. Max boost Cobra possibly.

Idea: station some ships out at 16-17k, making sure they're in the same instance as a 'spotter' (don't necessarily need to be winged). Ideally, they'd be above/below/left/right of the station (looking at the toast rack head-on). When the spotter sees one of these, one of the other pilots might be able to see it closer up, or at least verify the radar blip?

Probably on a hiding to nothing, but might be worth a shot.

Kudos on your continued efforts!!!

I think this really means something.
Not only do barnacles, on different planets, spawn different sets of rates, but the barnacles in the super crater on B3-2 planet 2 spawn a different set than the rest of the planet!
I wonder if "outcrops" can also tell us the same story of a planets make up. Meaning every planet would have a unique material composition.
This could mean that not only are we looking for "rocky" or "high metal content" worlds, but "high metal content with concentrations of: niobium X%, yttrium X%, vanadium X%" and so on.

This chart could point us in the direction of a clue we're missing. It is very important. I wish I could find it on the front page, would be handy when I need FSD materials ;)

I'm not disputing what you posted because you clearly did see something. Are you sure it's not the return of "Bob", the gravity glitch? It seemed to move in a similar way, pacing your movements ahead of you.
Being in Maia and there is a black hole in the system after all.

No, Bob acts different. Wasn't Bob moving with the looking around rather then the turning of the ship?

Would it help if someone would partol Osb. Orb with a silent runniing ship? Maybe the object wont flee. At least that fast. Maybe you could get closer this way. mhhh

.
Nice chart, very concise, just what I needed. +1 rep

IMO the latitude limits/size of the torrid zone of the planets varies according to temperature/distance from the star combination, so that all barnacle locations fall within this torrid zone.

Hi guys! Been away for a while (I got salty with Elite after a very very glitchy weekend of playing so had a break)
I just saw the new galnet post about Palin heading off to Maia, and this bit at the end took my notice:

The professor's ship, containing a wealth of valuable research material, is expected to set off in the next 24 hours.

Does anyone else feel this is leading to a "he disappeared on the way" kinda event? broadcasting on the galactic news network that he has a wealth of valuable research is a prime way to get a ship hijacked.

I think you're reading too much into this. As has been pointed out before, the Anaconda crash is a standard point of interest. If one of them is missing the pilot's seat then all of them are missing the pilot's seat. That makes it extremely unlikely that the missing seat has any significance to the barnacle mystery.

My money is on the Anaconda crash simply being a little puzzle to point us to the barnacles since we were taking so long to find one. I doubt it will have any further significance in the story.

I'm sure to 2 sites we have our different with the pilots seat! I will be checking both sites this week and hopefully when looking at side by side pics of both sites find more clues!.. If your right then at least I can stop this line of though and move on to my next ! I just feel we are missing something..
