News Elite Dangerous - Steam And Store Sale

Im assuming AI controlled first. Or AI controls your ship whilst you fighter pilot. It'll be much easier to add this to multi-crew framework if it's already in the game and bugtested rather than doing it all in 2.3

Ok but here's the thing. We're getting 4 content patches this year versus last years five. And one of our content patches is you can deploy a ship from your ship?! NO I DONT WANT THAT!!! I don't care if it will make implementation into multi crew easier. I want content. I want gameplay. How many of us can honestly say they will use this ability on a regular basis knowing how well frontier makes their AI? Especially considering that a ship being outfitted and then repaired restocked and replaced is NOT CHEAP. We've still got time for them to do something with it but I swear if that's all it is I will be beyond livid. Frontier I don't want to hate this game I really don't. Considering I have well over 300 hours of gameplay in this thing I love it. Which is why it hurts to see stuff like this and the lack of information on what content is coming. I don't have anything to get hyped for for this game. If we had teasers or bits of information id be less angry and frustrated. But there's nothing. No planned release dates just your soonTM. It feels bad man.

Dean Demon- The only reason I bring up resale is because I would like to reallocate those funds into gaming worth its value. There's no recourse here when you buy a digital copy of a title that is being sold as a full game and turns out to be delivered in piecemeal with bugs galore. Gaming is about having fun, but when I sell 6 copies of this game and try to wing up with those friends and everything sucks and doesn't work and patches don't fix the patches... you start to not have fun; quite the opposite. For the record I DO enjoy this game and I have put in my time, but all in hopes that one day it would behave like a completed title. My passion comes from that fact that this game is almost amazing and just short of being good. I'm not some nerd whose whole social life is contingent on this game so I see no need to praise its accomplishments and I see no need to be complacent. I want to try Horizons, but I'm not willing to pay for it based off the credibility of season one. The marketing choices are insulting; less bobbleheads and more functionality is where value is needed here.

You bought access to the Beta phase of Horizons, which is over (however if there are any other betas for expansions within Horizons, you will have access to those). Because you have ED and Horizons you get access to the Cobra Mk IV and the free Asp gold skin. You get Horizons.

You won't have to buy anything until season 2 prior to or at 2017.

Thanks for your answers!
Can you also tell me how/where to claim the Cobra Mk IV and the free Asp skin?

What you are asking is similar to saying "Will Asda stop selling apples", it's a silly question really

Indeed it would be a silly question to ask... given that Frontier has stopped selling these betas.

But I'm not asking that question.

And nor am I the one saying "if" about whether they will return. That's Slopey. "if there are any other betas for expansions within Horizons, you will have access to those".

Do I have reasons to be sour or did I get about the same deal? ... I just wanna know the exact difference between spending 53.99 € on Thursday (as I did) and on Saturday.
Somehow this information is very hard to get.

Content reductions aside, another thing you don't get is 13€ in change. That's the amount of the reduction in Horizons price between those days.

For just over a year I've owned this glitchy, half-baked, anti-multiplayer, anti-customization digital copy of a game. A new comer can have access to all content for $60? I'm I missing something here?

You're missing only the fact the newcomer's all-content price is actually $45. Or he can buy your $60 base game for $15.

A lot has changed in the last year. This is what's known as Value-based Pricing. :) "Value-based pricing (also value optimized pricing) is a pricing strategy which sets prices primarily, but not exclusively, on the value, perceived or estimated, to the customer rather than on the cost of the product or historical prices." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Value-based_pricing

forumuser8276- I see your point... ED is only worth $15! So now they're putting on a sale for Horizons at the perceived value based on actual sales since Horizons went up for preorder. Will it be adjusted again? I think so. I'd like to see some actual numbers...yeah right

Where has Frontier stated this?

There was nothing like this on the Horizons Beta store page https://archive.is/y8oDc and I see a moderator here has said (for what it is worth) "You bought access to the Beta phase of Horizons, which is over. "

I can confirm this is correct. Beta was for Horizons beta, not Planetary Landings beta. This means beta customers will be able to play any beta through Horizons.

Hope that helps.

After long contemplation, I bought Horizons last Thursday and 2 days later I read about the sale.
Do I have reasons to be sour or did I get about the same deal? Did I get the "Seasons Pass" too, is the main question, I think.

Yes you have the season pass, but more importantly if you only recently purchased Horizons you could contact our support team who would be happy to help. :)

I sound probably like an irritate console fanboy but I'm just saying I do understand that all these changes will be relevant when we get Horizons.
Just make sure that you guys don't go over the top with this waiting phase because it will cost customers, I'm saying this because I LOVE this game.
Best game in a long time that I played and that says a lot :)

We understand. We are working on Xbox One updates currently and more news will come when we have more details.

So I paid $60 for Elite Dangerous and now, on sale, I have to pay $30 for Horizons and all this years updates (season pass) for a total of $90 not including tax. For just over a year I've owned this glitchy, half-baked, anti-multiplayer, anti-customization digital copy of a game. A new comer can have access to all content for $60? I'm I missing something here? My digital copy has zero resale value and Elite Dangerous still behaves like a free to play in beta. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.-sincerely, dissatisfied customer

Why does it matter what someone else pays for ED? Games go on sale all the time. My advice for anyone this dissastified by a game is to walk away.

btw.. I don't seem to be able to post a review for EDH on steam.. Anyone else having this issue?

Unfortunately, not everyone will want every piece of content and that's part of the magic of having a game so rich and diverse. I personally for example am SUPER looking forward to ship launched fighters. Probably the most in the whole season.

Don't get me wrong, I am looking forward to multicrew too and the engineers but for me ship launch fighters (and the new missions) are they things I'm extra excited by.

Imagine that you're out mining or your hauling water purifiers over to LFT37 and then some pirate faction comes out and starts taking you out. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to add some extra defence to the way I play and shake up combat a little.

The point here is just that not every update is going to be one you personally want.

It's a sale. A sale has goods on offer for a reduced price!

And going by your figures you have had the game for a year for $30, when compared to someone buying it now.

The Cobra Mk IV is available to purchase in game from specific stations. There are a lot of people suggesting locations on this thread: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=212037

As for the Asp Explorer. Hop into your Asp and go to any outfitting. Then visit Livery and you will be able to apply the gold paint job and look awesome. :)

sincerely, dissatisfied customer

i dont get it.

Just cause 3 came out in december, at a cost of £40. right now it is on sale on steam at 25% off, but i have seen it as low as £20.

all games have price cuts, some far faster than others. in the grand scheme of things compared to most games elite has held its value more than most imo. Admitedly horizons HAS price cut far faster than the launch game did, but even so, it is no faster than many games

I'm extra excited to find out how a Fed or Imp Fighter is going to make any difference to a T7's TTL when it is interdicted by anything larger and badder than a Sidewinder, so something else happen then the pirate takes up position 500m aft of the T7's fighter bay after you are dropped, and the CMDR and his fighter get turned into a new kind of metallic confetti upon launching.

Are you reworking small fighters' scanner visiblity or weapon targetability? Are they going to have Cobra-beating speed as well as Eagle-beating manoeuvrability?

It seems that comms policy precludes talking in any detail about expansions beyond N+1, but on the knowledge that we currently have, a lot of players are more cynical than I am about Ship Launched Fighters. I'll be pleasantly surprised when you're able to share why they are so exciting.

It would be less troublesome if the paints are seen in game no matter the ship in station.
A lot of complaint come because the players do not see the paints they have because it's depend of the ship in use.

Unfortunately and from what I hear through/from the playerbase Frontier has never been further away from "What we want" as in Season 2 :( And as a big fan I am deeply sorry to say that :( .

Why does it matter? Because Elite Dangerous is not a complete game and I paid full price for an incomplete product that was broken most of the time for an entire year before Frontier had the temerity to charge any amount for Horizons. Walking away is for sheeple; games would never improve if customers didn't vote with their wallets.
