Upgrade to Standard Beta... confused

I paid £30 way back in what seems like the mists of time for what I think was a digital copy of the game on release plus some minor additional rewards. I then went away and forgot about it all.

Anyway I now have been looking through what has occured since and I'm getting a bit excited about it....but enormously confused about payments etc.

If I want to upgrade to access the Standard Beta when it arrives what do I have to pay?
Is it an extra £50?.. or is it the difference between my £30 paid and £50 (£20)

Sorry if this seems to be a basic question to most here but I have just re-kindled my interest in this after the original backing amount and trying to figure out what I need to pay to get in the Standard Beta, has fuddled my brain.... :S

This is an ambiguous subject for me. Because some say that we should pay the difference between our initial commitment and our new purchase in the new store (eg premium beta towards alpha). But if I go in the new store, it is stated the opposite in the FAQ (I'll post a thread)

I originally pledged £85 to the Kickstarter campaign. Last week I gave in to temptation and upgraded to the Premium Beta last week which cost me a further £15.

As the Premium beta is £100 you should only have to pay an additional £70. I have found that you will not get any of the additional kickstarter perks which you would have been entitled to if you had originally pledged the full £100 for the premium beta.

That's what I'm looking for I think, I am intending to await the Standard Beta and from what you say I think I am right in saying that if I pay £20 more then that will get me access....

:D

When the standard Beta starts FD will probably offer the ability for lower pledge tiers to upgrade.
The amount you have to pay to upgrade is not £50 minus your kickstarter pledge but £50 minus the cost of your current package.
e.g. If you pledged £45 in the kickstarter you will not get £45 off. What you'll get is £30 off (or whatever the Gamma release package cost) because this is the cost of the package you have.

Yeah...err I think... I paid £30 over a year ago for a package on the website that was a digital download of the game to play on release plus extras which I think were 500cr or something in game. I can't recall exactly what the extras were but the game was £30 to play on release.

So I am assuming that this £30 will go towards the Standard Beta cost of £50 leaving me £20 to pay.

If you log into the backers area https://elite.frontier.co.uk/backers/login/ you can see your pledge and rewards. The login for this was set up for you when you made your original pledge I think.

You can buy extras at https://store.zaonce.net/customer/account/login/

This is where you would be able to download the game when it is released and the beta releases if you buy the extra.

You only have to pay the difference in upgrade, the discount should be applied on the final page before order confirmation.

Yes, you just pay the difference, my mate pledged £20 for the £35 package and then paid £65 to up it to premium beta. No idea if he losses his extras or not.

So if you paid more than £35 you may loss out.

Only way is log into the store and see what extra they charge on top of the package you have on your account. :S

Oh I've found a quote that clear's it all up at the bottom of this page

When the Kickstarter was running and until it closed in December 2013 the original backers app covered your pledge level and listed the associated rewards you had earned for backing during the Kickstarter campaign.

With the new store you are now only seeing your original pledge level, all the rewards are still stored in the original backers app with Frontier keeping records on your rewards and pledges.

As the rewards are no longer available to backers they can only back the game not receive the rewards that were offered during the Kickstarter.

As mentioned before the Kickstater rewards are still there in the original app and FD know what you are entitled to.

So, I will reuse this thread to ask, since I am uncertain -- if someone who pledged on Kickstarter for the game, but no beta, can they upgrade to Standard Beta, and if so, what would it cost?

When we check it seems as if it will charge the full price for the Standard Beta (€60), as opposed to with an account where the upgrade from Standard Beta to Premium Beta would cost the difference -- it is shown right there on the product page if the "upgrade" is in the basket (€120-€60=€60).

Not so for the game to Standard Beta. It just shows €60. :(

So, uh, what way is it? Would like to upgrade but it is quite a difference between €60 and €20 (the difference between current package and Standard Beta). I'm confused. :S

It appears that if you had backed the game by buying the game for £30 under the kickstarter you will get the full game when released plus the extras you got for being a kickstarter backer.

As it stands at the moment according to the wikki you cannot upgrade to the standard beta which ofc will include a digital copy of the game which you have already paid for. The wikki goes on to say that this may change sometime in the future, but as far as I can see it hasn't changed yet.

I am in the same situation, as if I want access to the game, as it stands, when the standard beta is released I would need to pay a further £50 for the beta, and a digital copy of the game which of course I have already paid for once. My total would therefore be £80. This is an unfavourable deal compared to someone who never backed the game earlier only having to pay £50.

To test if this was in fact still the case I went to the upgrade page and filled the boxes all the way to the actual ok to pay page and it showed I would be required to pay £50 with no discounting. I presume therefore that at the moment I will hold on.
At least I am flying around in the limited dog fighting module in Star Citizen, as I intend to be in both in the future but need to be a little careful with the amounts I back the games with.

I hope they give the price of the original pledge off the standard beta in the same way they discounted the premium beta. But if not I will just have to wait until the full game is released.

I backed Elite: Dangerous through Kickstarter or the old Backer’s App and have a question relating to my pledge.

If you have any questions relating to your earlier pledge, check out our Backer’s FAQ for answers to many common queries and issues.

That is still the faq if you go to the help page

I got this fixed for my spouse -- sent in a ticket via the store (in the late evening) and next day, sometime in the morning side (before noon), we had a coupon code to enter to get the proper discount. :)

So now we are both waiting impatiently for Standard Beta. :D
