Lefty....Maybe

Lefties Unite !!! ... Lets form a squadron and go on the rampage and show these "normal" right handed people why we are smarter :p <waits for the replys of righties LOL>

I'm fully committed to my left hand.
Using a joystick in my right is about as successful as using my feet. I'm sure I could practice and improve but I bet you never get that feeling on not thinking about the stick and it being more an extension of your hand.

So I bought the Thrustmaster 16000M and its perfect for me. Haven't seen a right hand throttle control mind you, but the slider on the stick is fine as a compromise.
Nick.

What do they say, 1 in 10 are left handed. I guess those righties had better go & get some more help, oh wait a minute, they'll be none, well I'd guess some of us lefties will have to join their side, just to even things up. :D

Yep, as a leftie myself I'm not too keen on the 10-1 odds, but at least our dogfighting manoeuvres should be more creative and artistic before we get blown to bits! :D

I wonder if those statistics are accurate. I remember anecdotal evidence from my parents that said back in their day, people using their left hand were regularly hit by a ruler across their hands as a means to motivate them / force them to write with their right hand instead.

anyone heard anything similar?

The teachers tried several times to get me to use my right hand when using fountain pens at school when I was much younger.

I would write a line and then smudge it as my left hand moved across

When I first went to primary school in Newcastle (1977), my teacher tried to get me to write with my left hand, but to no avail, I found it felt just too uncomfortable, never got hit by a ruler though, well not for left handedness.

My dad claims his parents told such stories though, but that would of been just after the 1st World War.

When I was a nipper back in the very early 60's, I was forced to write with my right hand at school. But their plan went t*ts up after an accident to my right hand that left it bound in a cast for a few weeks.

btw, do I really have to type t*ts, considering the average age of forum members here? :S (and should that therefore mean I should type m*mbers?)

My grandmother tried to force my mum to make me write right handed. The main reason I do write left handed, according to my mum, is that I had a 'progressive' teacher at infant school that encouraged me (and others of a similar ilk) to write left handed. I've always put it down to the latin for right and left - dexter and sinister - with the english definition of sinister people have always associated left handedness as in some way bad or 'devilish' because of it.

With regards to the statistics I've heard and read the ratio of lefties set at anything between 10% and 25% of the population. It's probably somewhere in the middle. The only stat I've seen that has been consistant is that 50% of the acknowledged geniuses are left handed.

So us lefties actually buck the trend when it comes to intellect, I had kind of guessed that, although I already knew we buck the trend on good looks.

Yup, My brother "WAS" left handed, but was forced to write right handed. He's still left footed (was a semi pro footballer), but right handed.

You'd probably find that if it wasn't pushed on people we'd see more lefthandedness coming out.

so what you're saying then, is that potentially 10% of the population has 50% of the worlds brains. :p

We could RULE THE WORLD !!!!!

Caution: Beware zombie attack !!!!

No, that we lefties own 50% of 1% of the world's brains. As for the other 99% of the population who aren't geniuses... <shrugs>

Gotta love statistics...

Yup my poor mum was forced to use her right hand in school...

I love being left handed...them righties are always caught off guard by us as we break in different direction in a formation MUHAHA and in cricket we can pretend to be right handed and then turn as they bowl and knock the slips heads off, not that I ever did that you understand <whistles innocently>

People get confused when they look at my desk. Mouse on left of keyboard, notepad and pen on right of keyboard. They can't decide if I'm left or right handed. I can pick up mugs/cups with either hand for drinking which apparently some people can't do. I'm right handed for writing but mainly because I don't practice left handed writing all that often any more, used to when I was a kid - thought it would be cool to be able to write with either hand.
