Distant Worlds - A journey beyond the Abyss

Made it to Waypoint 8 last night (New Botany Bay), great spot. Turned up and found some shenanigans with an anaconda's bottom in the air and nose buried in the dirt and SRV's driving up it! Made me LOL Whoever you are, massive kudos for having the jewels to do stunts like that this far away from a station :)

Good luck keeping it! I suspect a few people have seen it, scanned it, and not made comment....

Z....

They are unlikely to simply stumble upon it if they went directly towards the waypoint, I took a fairly odd route.

Putting my name on it would be nice, but not that important.

I recon you've got a pretty decent chance of keeping that one.... Like you said the chances of anyone finding it if it's even slightly off the direct line is, well, astronomical (sorry, couldn't help it!).

Because i'm trying to keep up with the fleet and RL doesn't give me huge amounts of time i'm just fast scanning and jumping on the way to Beagle Point.... I'll be doing all my real exploration on the way back... I can take as long as i want then. I suspect there are a fair few doing the same.

The cartographers (who are far more likely to stumble across it) are trailing behind the main fleet so there's a good chance you will be home before them anyway :)

On my way to WP08, I've found a binary system of a neutron star and a regular class M star. Around them were nine high-metal-content and three water worlds. Two of each were terraforming candidates.

Along with the likely "first discovered" bonus (as I'm a ways off the direct WP 07-08 beeline), that'll be a system worth over half a million credits.

Plus, I got to drive my SRV full-tilt off this perfectly placed Crater Ramp... so I could plummet into the canyon below it...

Don't worry, only minor dents! :)

Cmdr Skibbering of the dustpan detail reporting in. Just arrived in WP5 last night for clean-up duties.

What a mess. There's tea, personal weapons, bertrandite and bits of Asp everywhere - I don't even want to know what you guys got up to. Found one Cmdr sleeping it off in an escape pod, he/she's going to get one hell of a shock when he/she wakes up back in Sol in a couple of months time. If we make it back...

I'm going to leave four Occupied Escape Pods behind at Waypoint 08. Can you please take them home?

Don't worry - I haven't woken them up from cryosleep.

Okay, so some drunk guy might have shaved off the occupants' eyebrows at the WP07 shindig I hosted in my ship's cargo hold. But it wasn't me, I swear!

That is so violation of statis rights

If it's ok we can use them as goalposts for a game of buggy ball.

With the sleeping beauty I picked up @ WP5, I'm up to 7; 4 more and I'll have enough for a team. If anyone else has a catatonic 11 and fancies a match, let me know. I thought about 10-pin bowling, but without hydraulic manipulators on our SRVs we'd never get them all standing.

I'm joking of course folks, clean-up is important work that must be taken seriously. A tidy galaxy is a happy galaxy. ...oh, and don't play games with helpless human beings, that too.

Should we have some kind of "I just cant/couldnt make it"-thread for those who started on this expedition, but soon realized that they arent up to the task after all?
Thats because im really curious of how many cmdrs has just simply quit this expedition to this date, but we have no info about it. Of course it requires the cmdrs who has quit to write to the thread.. :D

You can draw conclusions from the participation spreadsheet on Google Docs, if you like. The data's there.

I was going to use the spreadsheet but I lost track of when I was at which way point. I'm missing out some way points (WP8), have done some in reverse order and have been to one of them twice. In terms of way points, my route so far has been:

0 -> 1 -> 2 -> 5 -> 4 -> 3 -> 0 -> 5 -> 0 -> 6 -> 7 and on the way to 9.

Not everyone uses the spreadsheet, dar from it. Although I'm very curious to know that number!

If I was to make in "returned early" situation those who do not edit the spreadsheet and have registered on EDSM and stopped giving their flight log, I would say around 50%.
