Distant Worlds - A journey beyond the Abyss

Pretty much what all these CMDRs have said, just keep half an eye on the gal map as well and filter out everything except non sequence stars and white dwarves so you dont accudentally jump into them, unless you are deliberately looking for them.
Risky buisiness neutron farming, especially on a long dangerous trip like this which demands a ship in good health. Im personally avoiding them like the plague.

So far I've farmed over 80 neutron stars on this trip. I throttle to zero in witch space, honk then immediately select the top item in the navigation panel which should be 0.22 ls or 0.23 ls away. Scanning neutron stars doesn't take long at all. I then turn so it is 180 behind me and throttle up full so I am speeding away from it. I look at the system map and then the galaxy map for more neutron stars. By the time I'm out of those I am far enough away that I can charge up the FSD and point myself at the vector. I try to turn at the last moment if there's any doubt. The last thing I want to do is accidentally crash into the neutron star again.

When I'm travelling along I occasionally look at the galaxy map and have filtered out all stars except non-sequence and wolf-rayet. If I see any neutron stars or black holes then I write down the numbers if the rest of their names are the same and go to each one. So far I've found 6 undiscovered black holes.

I just found a bag of beatiful little marbles. Among the spheres were one blue-green, two blue and one brown. Unfortunately the owner had forgot to put his or her nameon the bag, so I won't be able to return it.

Whomever decided to make the green exclusion zone lines vanish below a certain speed needs to be smacked in the face with a wet tissue. Considering you jump in right on top of neutrons, and even the slightest throttle touch will drop you out... Heck, even pointing at it too long at minimum SC speeds will see and emergency stop within a minute or two....

I spent two nights between Waypoints 7-8 farming neutron's and undiscovered blackholes--found over thirty unclaimed bh's, and could still be out there looking for more if my schedule wasn't getting so tight...

aaaaaaand I got the explodi-bug with my SRV.

Nuts

Just watched Dr Kaii commit death by SRV jump and thought I could drive to the top where he tried to leap (hilarious to watch by the way) and I made it. All the way to the top. 89% hull and BANG!

AARRGGHH!!

The view is breathtaking. I recommend visiting this POI

Can this be true ?
http://www.edsm.net/expeditions/participants/id/1/name/Distant+Worlds+Expedition+(2016)

Over 1/3 of all members (only counted for the 1st 150) have already abandoned us !

I think I'm a WP behind in updating. It's a little odd for me since I'm flying a parallel course and eyeballing for equivalency.

Funny, but also "Ouch!"

How many spare SRV's did you bring?

Who is the bigger fool?

The fool, or the fool that follows him? ;-)

Can anyone explain to me how that is done? I registered at EDSM before DW started but couldn't figure out how it works so I never used it. As a result I show up as 0% progress.

Once you've registered with EDSM you need to upload your progress to the site.

The first step is to enable verbose logging in your game - there are instructions repeated all over the place on how to do this, but this thread has them and may become additionally relevant in a minute.

Now you've got the game logging the systems you visit you can upload them to EDSM.

You can run a 3rd party application like ED Discovery (that thread I just linked) which is very nice (and I'm not just saying that because I'm one of the developers working on it - although the lion's share of the credit goes to CMDR Finwen). That lets you sync your travel history with EDSM by clicking a button once you've done a bit of config so it knows about your EDSM account (and also gives you an UI for trilateration and plotting your journey on an assortment of galaxy maps.

Alternative, you can just load the logs straight into EDSM here but that's a bit more faff (IMO).

Then EDSM will know where you are.

You could leave the logging off and just enter your system into the 'Where are you?' text box at the top of the EDSM front page after every jump, or after selected jumps and I think that would probably work so long as you're logged in, but that's the most labour intensive option of all.

My progress got cut off too soon iain666.
I'm showing as Returned from WP05 when I actually got to WP06 and have logs to back me up.

This is starting to get beyond "old", and into "ridiculous".
How many more people have to lose SRVs for no reason at all before FDev sort the problem out? Given the problem is exacerbated when there are other Cmdrs in the instance, that says to me that surface collision detection isn't fine enough when there's network latency. I only ever had problems in an SRV when there were others in the instance.

EDD developer I maybe, but on EDSM I am merely an informed bystander. If it's missing some of your flight logs or not getting them properly lined up with DW then you'll need to talk to Anthor or Inhumier(sp?).

Oh I can see what's happened easily enough. One of the EDSM devs closed me from the DW expedition before I submitted my logs for the last few days. I submitted them this evening, and while they show under my own profile, the DW page hasn't updated to reflect any change. Therefore I make the assumption that once you're closed from the expedition, the last system in the log at that moment is where your final system is recorded.
It's not a great problem to me, and I'm happy to leave it as it is.

I think the likes of yourself, Finwen, Anthor and all the other folks behind these community support systems are doing a great job.
I like how systems are being built on top of other systems incrementally. EDSM for the baseline. EDD2/Captain's Log for data acquisition and sync. The "Monster Sheet" looking to get integrated.
I'm interested to see how the proposed Prospector tab in EDD2 is going to shape up. :)

Happened to me aswell, lucky I have a second but I filed a Bug report hoping they give me it back.

While i agree, i also think the problem is made worse by people driving too fast. I've noticed the damage indicator when i've been going really slowly over ground that really didn't look like it should cause any, but because i was only going at a walking pace i only took minor damage.

Had a nice time with CMDR Johnson Sky doing a bit of exploring around WP8, found a black hole with no exclusion zone, a nice earth-like and a beautiful Planetary nebula, here are some pics!
