UAs, Barnacles & More Thread 6 - The Canonn

Gday guys,

Just double checking that we are all aware of the four very close proximity barnacles on Pleiades JC-U B3-2 2. If we are aware of them, is there a spreadsheet with the co-ordinates of all the known barnacle sites on it. I did check the Front page but only found one with all the planets on it, no co-ords.

Cheers,

Omate

This one has the coordinates: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...3GQhC5KT-o9u05ihWKXebt4BcM/edit#gid=223643326

Just select the Barnacle list tab.

Btw, does anyone have any advise for how best to search a planet's surface for barnacles? What altitude and speed would give the best chance of spotting a barnacle?

After the spawning issues have been fixed, you should be able to spot them easily from 1-1.5km height at "full speed" (avg. 300m/s) as (a) small flickering dot(s). Go for the known ones to train your eyes before trying a new planet (but I doubt that someone will find a new planet with barnacles in the near future - if there are no further related discoveries or hints)!

Edit: You can dive down your ships nose and use the upwards-thruster to keep your altitude while flying like a helicopter, which is giving you a much better view.

Check the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet matey. I know which site your talking about. Its at the bottom of a double crater.

Here's a thought I had while re-reading this material, and placing myself in the mind of the devs:
the fixed Barnacles that we are categorizing frantically may not hold the answer.
I suspect that with generated POI's something might happen to/with them.
Just like other randomly generated POI's have different things happening.
Sometimes no defense, sometimes that unexpected Goliath.

We should perhaps focus on those random ones.
The POI circles are visible up to 25 km, and the barnacles itself are visible from about 8 km,
albeit vaguely.

Has anyone ever found a random one?

Getting stuck in the scientific methods instead of exploring the possibilities
is what has held science down in real life as well, just saying.

Fairly sure there is no difference between the random and placed Barnies (expect maybe the addition of a crashed ship?).
Just because they are random, does NOT mean they vary, they are still Permanent and not visible on the scanner. Just that most were assigned randomly, then a few were added manually to fit the plot.

Thats assuming that we have found both random and placed ones, it could be that we have only found random ones and the placed ones are utterly different to what we have found so far.

Check better the FP then. It's there. ;)
The spreadsheet has tabs to click to access other pages in it, one of them has all the barnacles found so far.

Ok, that's the end of my involvement in this forum.

I've found you guys most intelligent, but blinded by yourself.
Time to move on. There's better life out there.

Ciao!

Tssk, you guys didn't even notice the updated confirmation info on that branacles spreadsheet.
I worked two full days to get them verified.. and nothing.
Last time I waste time on others again.

The same way we see our galaxy even though we live inside it? ;)

Plus if it is aliens and they got to Merope to put the barnacles, then maybe that way..? Anyhow I still don't think the barnacles are alien related.

We guess what our Milky Way looks like. Every picture is an artist's representation.

Oh !?! I know my "charming" manner can scare a few off, but this time ? I really meant no slight whatsoever. Colour me confused.

Pink with sky blue dots,,,, Generally accepted as a pretty confused chameleon ......

Can we make it yellow dots and then I can imagine Domm like this:

Don't run away. You must finish your work. we all must finish our work, we are better than this. no offence was meant i'm sure.

Discovered more SSS - UAs at Taurus-Auriga Star Forming Region, B type Star HR 1445, some planets to land, but although the right temperature, low on surface metals, although I did find Technetium on one of them. Searching for barnacles very cumbersome and time consuming. How to determine where UAs point to?

.
IMO the Pleiades barnacle symbol could maybe represent Barnard's Loop but only in pointing to it, its telling us to travel from Pleiades and look/travel to the direction of Barnard's Loop to find other UA/barnacle locations??

Check the distance between HR 1445 and Merope: I suspect it falls inside the shell (135-150ly from Merope).
Then, while Merope is still selected in the Galmap, align your ship with the UA, keeping the head as a pointer, and it will almost surely point to the Merope "target circle".
