Check the distance between HR 1445 and Merope: I suspect it falls inside the shell (135-150ly from Merope).
Then, while Merope is still selected in the Galmap, align your ship with the UA, keeping the head as a pointer, and it will almost surely point to the Merope "target circle".
Yep, 137.87 and points directly to Merope.

Decrypted Carrier signal from PALIN!!!!

Just turtles? I thought there'd be elephants too.

Time to settle down.

All the UA's point to Merope. Even in the system, they point to Merope. Therefore the star class (Exact) must be important. The planets nor do the barnacles matter.
Why Merope?

Can we find an exact match for Merope somewhere else? Temperature, Size. Everything. I would suggest that we find that star. That and only that should be our priority now.

Well, little man in the back of my head speaking here, but can we actually validate that there is more to find right now? I mean, for all we know, the UA's could just all be primed to point to the star of the system they originated in, and that's it.. We found the Barnies there, the UA's played their (first?) part, the barnies, markings and crash-site are maybe of significance now but not active, and now we are supposed to wait for the next update while the story plays out on GalNet for a bit.
Except, me included, the little scientist in us keeps taking over the controls and you end up with another gorgeous rock to oogle at. I just spent a few days in BLoop looking at a lot of nice pink rocks that make any 4year old girl squeal in delight - and that little thought kept nagging me.. next to all the other "well, couldn't it be that...need to check"s :)
I did look through the op and even tried to wrap my head around previous posts, so I'm sorry if I'm missing the obvious, but maybe you could point out what keeps you all going ahead with your search? - I'm just trying to silence the little man and get on with it :)

It's not about the searching. It's about paying attention to details.
Finding something a little out of place and reporting it here.

Try searching the forum for the first few posts about barnacles. Se how long it took before the idea actually took off.

Now we have lots of loose ends. Palin gone, meta alloy repair properties, S6: 7, barnacle markings and all the UA stuff. Plenty of question marks.
If you limit your self to surface hunting for 'new things', it's easy to burn out.

Just keep your eyes open while you do the things you want to do.

I should add, it's only a recent a discovery for me - nearly all my little green boxes have been accumulated by spouting rubbish on here - this thread gives biscuit-y rep, which is the best kind :)

See my reply on that thread.
That system is in the usual UA shell: 142Ly from Merope.
It should be so easy to check the GalMap for distances...

Heh, I just finished replying on the Reddit post for the same thing. Linked to Entim's repository map and encouraged them to record their encounter.

Ok, that's the end of my involvement in this forum.

I've found you guys most intelligent, but blinded by yourself.
Time to move on. There's better life out there.

Ciao!

Tssk, you guys didn't even notice the updated confirmation info on that branacles spreadsheet.
I worked two full days to get them verified.. and nothing.
Last time I waste time on others again.

I noticed? I confirmed the ones you found.
What's the problem?

Why we should go to the Lagoon Nebula

In short: We should go to the Lagoon Nebula and look for a UA bubble 140Ly around it, checking the alignment of the UAs. Another possibility would be Prai Hypoo aa-a h60. I'll head there tomorrow.

(If this was already suggested, I'm sorry to waste your time.) The reasoning behind this suggestion:

We are looking for nebulae simular to Pleiades. However: At this point we aren't sure, what "simular" means. As some people already pointed out: the UAs align to Merope (the star), not to the barnacles. The idea that there must be more to the UAs / Merope because of this, was already pointed out earlier. Merope is a B-class star and in fact there are lots of B-class stars in and around Pleiades. Go to your galaxy map and look at the nebulae which are searched by some people right now (Barnards Loop, Witch Head, ...) filtering for B-class stars: There are virtually NONE.

I suggest we make a list of nebulae with many B-class stars and search these, beginning with the Lagoon Nebula (since this seems to be the nearest).

Fly save.

If I'm not mistaken, I think somebody asked specifically about Lagoon and MB said no barnies there. If I wasn't on my phone, in line at the grocery store I'd look for the post!
