Well, if you can't beat the argument go for the person, old tactic, however then you are spotted as a shill debunker right away.

I have a reaction to people who repeatedly type "lol" in their posts. It is not a positive reaction...

My OCD is kicking in now trying to categorise myself...

Backer: Nope
Want the game to be released: yup
Worry it will spell the end of ED: nope
Armchair developer: nope, I can't make any furniture

I'm probably over-estimating my own importance, I don't even feature on his radar /sniff

Meanwhile: I still don't know why they don't simply give everyone in the Alpha a pile of monopoly money completely separate to their RL-cash UEC? Player trading is where it will get really awful. Not in terms of tracking it, as Max says, that is only database queries... The problem will be the CS man-hours spent resolving disputes between players.

"Are you sure you didn't share your account details?" says the CS rep looking at an IP log with entries from 3 different continents in neat timezone blocks... "No, never, I wouldn't do that, someone must've hacked my account and stole my UEC!"... etc

I think if they did that, they probably would not sell as many ships as they currently do. As a compromise, they could just make the weapons and accessories available to the monopoly money - but I'm guessing the whole "financial" side of the game is already pretty much tied in to the original ships, packages and UEC purchasing system. That's not to say it could not be altered, but I doubt it's straightforward (having worked on quite a few financial software systems myself - they are never easy to work with) - so I think for CIG, such a thing is low priority if even on a list of "nice-to-have" things somewhere.

E: D did not suffer this problem as the monetization model of E: D is pretty much all down to starter package + cosmetics. Star Citizen is a very different beast in that regard.

So apparently a new trailer for SQ42 is incoming soon.
Also (apparently again) there's going to be a promotional push 3 months before SQ42 is supposed to be released so that should give us a nice warning of when it'll arrive.
I don't think the afformentioned trailer is the start of this push.

Nah, I would say that SQ42 release in the next 4-6 months is unrealistic.

How soon? At this point I would be really interested in seeing anything about SQ42 that isn't mocap related.

Not sure how soon. He just said soon.
This is from a guy who apparently works for CIG and posts in the SA forums occasionaly.
He's VERY careful with what he posts though and it's usually just specks of information.

Unless it is a part of their PR campaign, to make the posts look like a real information leak.

On the BBC segment CR said it was his hope that SQ42 would be out before the end of the year. I think Xmas 2016 sales push is the most we can look for as a release date.

Well, this is exactly what we already discussed earlier. Or they could also make an announcement during Citizencon this year, and make a release for anniversary.

So is DFM Direct Flight Mode? Maybe this is why they have 15 to 25 builds per day if they have specific variants of game builds? Presumably some of those have to be test beds and will merge into the main trunk, rather than being discreet entity games?

Well, many of them will probably be in Arena Commander as game modes, for FPS and DFM. But many features or game mechanics of those will surely be in the PU and SQ42.

Is there going to be much in the way of physical character customisation for avatars? That Super soldier looks awfully buff. Not sure if the armour will fit so well on those of us who like to dodge the space salad ;)

In EQ2 my Ogre was as short and stout as he could get, more like a Dwarf on Steroids!

The skeleton, that is, the model is the same for everybody. Physical changes sure, but being able to make yourself look like a dwarf or one ogre ain't going to happen really. To avoid major nightmares with animations and other model stuff, specially on ship's cockpits, what Tracy said is you're able to make it a bit shorter and a bit taller, a bit fatter and a bit flatter.

That's good to know. I wonder if short and thin will be the avatar paradigm, to make best use of cover?

haha, fun, a "big" guy will become one easy target. I forgot completely that's also part of the balance problem it would happen on FPS combat if allowed.
