For those of you bringing up the whole G-force/needing to be strapped in at all times for safety thing, I will counter with the Orca. We can infer from the shipyard description that it has opulent living quarters and lounge areas where the guests, presumably, are not strapped into harnesses at all times.
Perhaps there is a technology in use which helps to buffer changes in the direction of velocity of the bodies inside the ship...or perhaps not. But I know I've interdicted that wedding barge, and it was still broadcasting just fine. Perhaps the wedding party was all strapped in.
And before you accuse me of being a monster who engineered his very own "red wedding", you're not wrong. But after weeks of being spammed with pre-nuptial brats saying "I don't know if I can go through with the wedding" (broadcasting that to an entire system denotes a certain lack of tact) I just had to make it stop.

Ah yes, the mythical "Inertial Dampeners". Almost every science-fantasy that has those says they are a by-product of artificial grav tech. And we know we don't have that in the Elite universe.

It means to be absent / away (from somewhere).
