Alpha Versions in Premium Beta

As a purchaser of the Premium Beta I'm very happy to have the Alpha 1.1 combat scenarios to play with, but I was wondering if we were going to see any of the other Alpha iterations prior to the formal release of the Premium Beta at the end of May.

Frontier has not announced anything about this. And the indications in the new store, suggests to me that there will be no other iterations

Very unlikely. If they intended to give you later versions of the SP stuff, they would surely have already done so. The version you have is rather old: before the MP stuff was added. That suggests they just repackaged the old version the alpha backers got yonks ago, with no real effort. To give a later (and better) version of the SP they would have had to do work to untangle it from the MP stuff. And to deliver an MP version would have caused all sorts of political rumblings that they surely would want to avoid.

So take the 'present', enjoy, and wait as patiently as you can for the proper beta at the end of May. You will have the SP about as long as the alpha backers had the SP before the first MP release.

I'd rather they fix the P2P networking and produce the game. I understand wanting more, I really do. For every person they pull off the main project(s) the less is done to fix or produce the game.
I've several points and issues regarding networking, killing connections and other test stuff I believe as an alpha play-tester we should be working on (akin to Blackey's Anaconda thefts) but I figure they know all about it or would request specifics. To that end I spent several hours today testing possible networking issues, exploits and islands instead of testing items not implemented yet. I'm sure they are working hard to bring the game to life but it takes time.
There seems to be a lot to do still behind the scenes with the current networking not counting all the new content, systems and all of the rest that is outlined on the DDA. Hang on to your hat!

Pretty sure Michael Brookes has said there won't be any updates for beta backers until they get eventual access to beta proper on the 30th May.

Found it:

Having played the game now I wished I'd backed it at alpha from the beginning - it looks like all those guys are having so much fun! But it's such a long time since I played a space game I wasn't sure my reflexes were up to it...

Having played the combat test, though, it's quite clear that I rock  and am itching for something else to do. Well, just a month (and a bit) to hang on...

Just wait till you have to face up against a gimbled up to its ass Cobra in your sweet little Sidewinder. Your opinion of your fighting skills might need a refresh :p

I hope so, well at least station docking (and/or basic MP) once they release Alpha 4.0 for alpha testers only. They would sell way more Premium Beta copies and generate more income.

The anticipation of something can often be better than the something itself.

Just like the Beta backers with their single player missions the Alpha backers get bored too with the limited gameplay of Alpha 3.4.

You might be missing out on a few hours of an initial rush but after that not so much. Just hang in there for the first round beta which should blow away anything we have seen or will see in any of the Alpha iterations.

I can assure you that we are bored with Alpha 3.4. You are bored with Alpha 1.1 playing it for about a week. We were playing Alpha 1.1 for 1.5-2 months before Alpha 2 was released. Actually at current stage the game is interesting for about 2-3 weeks after the release of the new version. We have only 4 different scenarios to play.

alpha perks??

what about the lfetime 50% off ship insurance? is that a perk from alpha that would be worth it in the long run?

Only if you intend to die a lot in expensive ships. You don't seem to pay a premium up front, more only in the event of disaster.

There may yet be little sweeteners for beat backers too, we don't know yet.

If you want to test alpha, get alpha. If you'd rather have a more "complete" game then go for beta and test beta.
