It is as far as I'm concerned. 01/03 is my 1st unofficial day of spring. Its time for me to go down to the garage and prep my bikes. Clean off all the wd40 I liberally cover the things in. Give the batteries a top up, fire up the babies and feel the bass of two ducati's with full race pipes burbling. Happy days are here again.....yippee

They're both wrong really. Taking the longest day logically as the middle of Summer, i.e. approx. 21st June then that puts the start of Summer roughly around the start of May with Spring therefore approx. Feb/Mar/Apr (i.e. vernal equinox should be the middle of Spring, not the start)
