Double First Timer!

Hey all, just set out on my very own exploration mission to Barnard's Loop.
Turns out, it not that exciting, so I turned back, and started a very slow trip towards the centre of the galaxy... !
Anyhoo, at each system, I was stopping to check if it had been scanned before. For 100s of LYs, they'd all been done.

Then, I came across a single line system, totally unscanned.
All it consisted of was 3 stars, and a single gas giant, with a ring.

So what the hell, I decided to scan the lot!

When I flew to the gas giant, I found it had an ice ring!
Inall my travels, I've never actually dropped in to one, so I did. And took a screen of my first discovered planet, and it's ring!

So niice!

Shortly after the screenshot, I hit an iceberg.... I was fine though, glad I left my shields up!

Since then, I've discovered 2 new unscanned star systems... Wooh!

I think the ice rings make the best images... if you can get a nearby star shining through, it looks stunning!

Also: love the paintjob. Not. That. I. Am Jealous.

Great Screenie, and grats on your tag. Look out, it gets addicting ^^

Thanks!

I love my paint job too. Lol

Got another first! My first ever undiscovered ELM!

Parked on its moon, which is actually bigger than the planet... Somehow.
Took another postcard screenie!

It was only 600ly from Sol, you guys are sloppy! Lol

Unfortunately, I can't seem to get the debug camera to work in the SRV.
My original idea was to land on the dark side of the moon, looking over the dark horizon to the ELM in my buggy.
But for reasons, unknown to me, I can't get the debug camera to work in the SRV. Bummer!

I'm heading back to the bubble now to cash in and take a mini break from exploration. Haven't been out long, but I don't wanna burn myself out. Lol

If you head towards anything 'shiny', pretty much everything is going to be scanned. Anywhere around Barnard's Loop in particular, the Pleiades, or in the direction of the core. But if you go up or down off the Galactic plane by a few hundred LYs, and go along the spiral arms instead of rimward or coreward, you can still find undiscovered bodies 3 or 4 jumps out from populated space.

I soon found that out!

I'm currently about -400 on the Z axis, 600ly from sol, somewhere. Lol there's the odd scanned star, but most of the systems are unscanned.

Most point A -> B routes will all be scanned but even just a few ly off the beaten path is mostly vacant space. My first trip out was only 1k ly to get my feet wet and once I figured that out I found hundreds of completely vacant systems all nestled close together. Make the right hand turn at Albuquerque, you wont be disappointed.
