Mine is Big Boss Metal Gear's Main Character, by the way I never played that game, BigBossLucas my CMD name was the result for finding a name in a Forum with no luck, you know, (Name already taken, choose another one) then I typed mi actual nickname and there I was with the expected (Valid Name) Later somebody told me that Big Boss was this Metal Gear Character which I use as my Avatar.
Like to look like that in Elite with my 'Dangerous' State.

The thumbnail image is so small - is what mine depicts even legible to people who don't recognize the source? Or it is mostly just a confusing mess?
The full image (on the cover of a book) is below, under the spoiler. If you were a kid during the era of the original Elite, you probably knew of the Terran Trade Authority books. They were filled with the sci-fi paintings of the 80s (and 70s) - a distinctive style that blew our tiny minds and informed our childhood. But those children have grown up since then and are now creating our own things. Hence you'll notice that the art direction of No Man's Sky is an homage to this art; returning to that style and building worlds from it.
My favourite TTA book was "Spacewreck". Especially the eternally-drifting derelect ships that had succumbed to strange plagues or space fungus
(The TTA books are long out of print and are almost collectors items, but they were so successful and widely printed that they're not toooo expensive to buy - usually not much more than they would have cost new. This Chris-Foss-style art was everywhere back then, but vanished decades ago with the advent of digital graphics. Now, No Man's Sky is resurrecting it using the very technology that killed it )

My avatar is my third Morrowind character, Eldorf the Wise. The screen shot is the only one I've ever created that has a title ("Dare to bring light into places that prefer the dark"). He didn't know his last name so for fun the guards at the Imperial City prisons gave him the last name of Dragonmeal. Obviously, it stuck but he never appreciated it.

I used to write and perform stories. I like flawed main characters and Rorschach definitely qualifies as flawed
And I loved Watchmen and thought Rorschack was the best of the bunch. "I'm not locked in here with you; you're locked in here with ME." Rep for such a powerful character.
If you search for an ostrich image on Google, this ugly guy on the left is one of the most common to show up, so I had to do something to distinguish it from the mass and decided that the Borg Collective would have been better adding his biological and technological distinctiveness to their own. You don't mess with ostrichs. Besides, resistance would have been futile anyway.
This was more than a decade ago in a forum for another game of the genre (hints: starts with an "x", ends the same), and the Borg guy stuck with me since, I can't imagine being me without him anymore...on why I choose an ostrich in the first place, it must have had something to do with sharing the same imperious look and exotic and mysterious beauty...

I photoshopped mine. I used an image from the character creator stuff ED put out, and used the helmet off an image of the CMDR bobble head.. Put a hole in the visor so I could smoke a cigar, and added a hat just to be odd
