CQC Gave CQC a try today--won't be making that mistake again.

Seriously FD, you think its fun to hand someone a knife and throw them into a plasma cannon fight

The featured CMDR is one of the top CQC pilots in the game. You lost because you're not as good as them.

This pilot relies heavily on getting the Weapons powerup. Try nicking it or going for the stealth power up to counter.

Also: the plasma repeater is by far the worst weapon in the game. If they were using "plasma cannons", it's because they were deliberately trying to go easy on you.

I get it. Losing sucks. But until Frontier decides to add private matches, it is impossible for high level players to play without being matched with relative noobs.

We'll do our best to try and refind matches when we're obviously not meeting any resistance. In return, stop blaming your failings on outfitting and take pleasure in the process of getting better

So basically what you're saying is...

I expected about as much.

I would only play CQC to get the Permit for the Discount System :p

That was the reason I was trying it out, honestly. Maybe I wont join a turkey shoot next time I'm ever inclined to give CQC a go again.

This is true for me also. I hate the fact I may have to grind some completely uninteresting (to me) add on to get access to something potentially interesting (to me) in the real game

I'm saying that the pilot you mentioned specifically went easy on you. You lost because of your abilities, don't blame your equipment.

You don't have to get better: but if your ego is too fragile to stand being outplayed, it would be advisable to try and improve. You don't have to win to have fun

You don't have to do anything. Unlike trading: where I am essentially forced to trade despite not especially enjoying it, to support my power or unlock ships

If he was using the plasma repeaters, he might have been doing it to 'gimp' himself because they are incredibly easy to dodge. Looks like it didn't work. Try again some time.

OP, I don't particularly shine at CQC, but despite having access to over a half of loadouts, I still use the basic Fed fighter. It's energetically balanced and quite capable.
I'm not saying it is for everyone, any everyone has full right to omit parts of the game that don't suit them, but the ships aren't THAT much different in firepower and survivability. It's just experience and skill.

If I want to unlock certain things in game then I DO have to do something that will be a grind. Thought that was perfectly clear. And you don't need to trade to get ships or help your power - it is just one of the quickest ways of doing it. My point is that there will, I believe, be things in the main game that can ONLY be accessed by ranking in the Arena.

And there are things in the game only accessible through Fed rank, or exploration, or driving around in SRVs, or power play, or piracy, or mining, or bounty hunting, with more to come in 2.1. That's just the nature of the beast.

Put it this way. 99.9% of everything in this game is unlocked through PvE. Why complain about the 0.01% that's unlocked through PvP?

If you want to unlock absolutely everything, you will need to do a lot of things. That's not a bad thing

CQC is pure piloting skill. All a higher level does is allow you to be more adaptive to what the enemies are using by giving more loadout slots.

agree. it's more about personal choice or adapting to what others have, not power. i'm 30-ish and still prefer the condor most of the time, with still pretty much the basic loadout.

op was complaining about the match making, though. yeah, this happens. i've usually had no problem accepting a beating, you learn that way :D. it has also happened to me to be matched with a bunch of newbs, you do a couple of rounds and then leave as it becomes embarrassing, and try chance at another time. not really the end of the world, it's just a game :)

If it was part of the main game I wouldn't complain. I wouldn't like it but I accept that is tough. The issue I have is that it isn't part of the main game and is considered by many to be mostly worthless and thus isn't played much. I am one of those. I don't mind what others do and don't care if others enjoy it or not. My issue is that it seems that they are attempting to almost force you to play it or miss out on actual game content. It's bad enough that it has it's own Elite rank on the main game info screen

You can not like it and decide not considering it be a part of the game as much as you want, as long as the devs disagree with you that won't help much tough ;)

Tough, yes, but even the devs don't consider it part of the main game. You may have noticed that it is not actually in the main game and has it's own separate section in the launcher [squeeeee]

You are missing out on the grand total of 16 lines of text (ranks), and 1 system permit.
Considering the amount of other things in the game I think you should end your arguement since loosing 1/400,000,000,000 systems is like loosing a single thread on a carpet and claiming you have to get the entire carpet replaced. :p

i think i'd understand your issue better if you didn't need twisted rethoric like 'attempting to almost force' to describe it ...

are you seriously implying you are being forced to do pvp? for a discount? i'll give you a better one: to take a tour through the sol system and look at the moon (just our freakin moon. in a space game!) i was forced through the humilliation of having to work for fed scum! for weeks! (i didn't complain because being a human dealing with scum is a necessary survival skill :D)
