Large ships and outpost

Hi There

Was thinking that if you had a say T9 and you cant dock on to the outpost, will it not be great if you had a min shuttle module attached to the T9 and you use that shuttle to ferry back and forth the cargo.

Just saying

I could imagine the guardian update could contain something like this, I mean why would it only need to be a fighter? why not a small cargo shuttle? it wouldn't be fast, but you know it would be able to do it.

Does not need to be fast, you park your T9 next to the outpost and use the shuttle to dock simple and the module can be change from shuttle to fighter if you want as well.

Or start thinking Logical. It a big ship which needs Large stations. Which has Large amount of space. I had a T9. Great ship slow. But I know the Risk and reward and the benefit of a type 9. But I also understand the weakness of a Large ship. Like you can't dock at a small station.

I can't remember exactly when (perhaps it was some 6 hour stream ED was doing?) but I recall the Devs mentioning exactly this with the "ship launched fighters" update, that you could perhaps have shuttles also that let you access starport services, and slowly but gradually transfer cargo.

It is a logical step; with what is coming. At the same time; you would have to leave that huge great T-9 sitting outside; unmanned? While you interact with the port, your risk.

Sounds like a tempting target for a wing of FDLs with a C4 PA and Torpedoes

You just know that the very first thing that will happen will be someone will complain that the shuttle / fighter bay takes up too much space and they want their money back.

The second will be "the shuttles take too long to unload / load my cargo I want my money back"

Should be relatively protected by the station as you would be within 15 KM.

The moment you "dock" in orbit you should be protected by station guns from ALL kinds of threats.

Depends on what your trading. Slaves or drugs in a no slave or drug zone. lol.

Well, that could be a legitimate drawback.

If we cannot land and enter the station we are eligible to be scanned by anyone as long as we are docked in orbit.

It's a good way to weed out stupid traders.

700 tonnes of slaves in a type 9 outside an outpost and someone with an axe to grind and a bounty scanner. =P
