CQC CQC without any waiting? it IS possible

Would you like to be able to play CQC with you only versus Bots? it is do-able, since we already got combat AI. I know I would.

I will explain :

1 - Even if frontier has released Arena as a standalone, I still have to wait 30 MINUTES without any matches some times... In some mods that should be populated
2 - Even if frontier has released Arena as a standalone, Some mods are deserted, ( CTF for example) it is even pointless to try matchmaking, for after the wait you will discover there is actually NO matches at all
3 - No waiting time : You want to play? you play.
4 - Afraid of other players? No problem, with bots.
5 - Training your skills? You could, with bots.
6 - Testing a ship outfit? You could, with bots.
7 - Ranking up your CQC without having to wait AS MUCH TIME, even MORE waiting than playing.
8 - Team is bad? No more ! you are the only one to blame, with bots.
9 - One, or even worse, few players are AFK (on purpose, you spot them miles away) after a game that you already waited to play? No more, with bots.
10- unbalanced teams? Remember that time ? the 4 vs 2 time when of course you were in that team when the guy just disconnected after dying once so now you are against FOUR opponents and you can't do anything because they are playing in group ? Then, I would be happy to say : NO MORE with bots.
11 - You want to quit, because your wife/children/life is calling you but this time you DO NOT want be that guy who quits in the middle of the game? No problem! bots won't be mad about you.

I had the time to create this whole post, play with my pet and eat without ANY match to came up, I am still in matchmaking screen.


As for the people who would say this would make arena even more desert, it doesn't add up. People that don't want to wait an hour (and I'm not even exaggerating) to play would be quitting to play something else anyway. You aren't losing players like me, or the carebears, or pvp anxious players because they wouldn't play arena in the FIRST place.

It is a constant problem with CQC although there are times of the week when it can be very quick.. GMT 7PM Fridays is usually a good time, you can normally get a lot of games in without waiting much at all.. Another thing they should really do is allow the gamers who are waiting to just accept that they want to play a game with reduced numbers.. better than no game at all.

A simple, loud, resounding yes to bots. It takes ages to matchmake and get into games. The last time I successfully entered a match, I joined a lobby, and the game started. It took the best part of a minute to join in, and by that time my side was 5-0 down!

ATM, when I can be bothered to play CQC, I prefer to pootle about the scenery. IMO, everyone who plays it will eventually reach Elite and prestige to max. Some may advance quicker than others, so it doesn't matter to me if it's against humans or NPCs. I'll still be an Elite CQC'er just by dodging scenery!

(As an aside, am I correct in assuming that "Arena" is a simulator experience based at a station in a particular in game system, one that can only be accessed if you prestige once?)

It seems more about server issues. I've never waited more than a few minutes to get a CQC match. I don't know why.

+ Added reasons based on experience I'm sure anybody who played Arena a bit knows about : The : " I am AFK, please grind for me", and the "unbalanced teams because my mate just dc after getting killed once"

If that is true, and if you never experienced any of the things I listed on the top then I am more than glad and happy for you. But please, try CTF matchmaking, or playing at low populated hours. Be my guest. And again, if what you tell is true, then you are one of a kind lucky guy. Because that is certainly not the same for the rest of all of us.


From what I understood, Elite in CQC is achieved when you reach LVL 50 Prestige 8 , right?

I'm one of the no voters. It is not like I do not like many of the ideas in the OP , just do not see a bot mode coming to the Arena mode - not until the NPCs get a whole lot better anyway.

Matchmaking is getting better but I am UK based, so I think I am quite lucky, I only wait a minute or so ...... to get my kicking by better players

I agree with this. But I'd like to say that any bots should only be available in private match mode, and that private matches should be completely separate from any ranking gains. If you're setting up a game you should have a lot of knobs you can twiddle.

Whilst I voted yes it's with the idea that bots should be used to populate each game to the max, waiting for a group of 4 to add players is a bind but using bots that way would enable FD to keep the structure and lower waiting/match making time, also if players cry off just replace them with a bot.

Yes, yes, yes please! I want a bots mode myself, but even I recognise private matches as perhaps even more important.

I am quite sad that the thread moved to CQC and not stayed in Dangerous discussion.

It was done on purpose. Because a LOT of people have dropped on Arena a while ago. The ones who tried , for the reasons (and more) that I listed.

Now the thread will have low visibility. that's sad. But the poll certainly proves that there is a demand for Arena to get fixed with private matches and the ability to play against bots

After doing 1 match, and then waiting about 15 mins now I'm about ready to give up. Bots sound like the magic bullet that CQC needs atm.
Although main game queing would also do wonders for this problem...
I'm lucky to even be able to play a game in my timezone/when I have time.

Private groups, a que all button, or a ETA notification are all also reasonable improvements the system needs.

Anything to reduce/eliminate waiting would be great. I'd like to play CQC more but often I give up waiting and go and play the real game instead.

Atm, having Arena as a separate game is not very good PR for the full game.

Arena as a separate game isn't a bad idea, but it could be done better. I'm all for bots in matches and it definitely would make queues pop faster. I've also heard the suggestion to make the Arena mode Free to Play, which would definitely be a bump in popularity because gamers eat F2P stuff up. I do think that private matches, spectating, a ladder system, more objective based play, and achievements and trophy's that transfer over to the main game would go a long way to reviving CQC. Arena mode is a blast, it just needs more TLC and features to support competitive gaming.
