"I Want It All" Queen of Sag A* in Open - take care

Honestly, this seems harmless enough. She's providing warnings, she's encouraging people to interact, and she's giving them every chance to flee if they do not.

It SEEMS to me that all will be well if you play along with her. So it's an RP situation rather than any kind of griefing. Sounds to me that as long as you can spin a good RP yarn you'll get by just fine.

(please correct me if I'm wrong or if this has changed)

If I was in this position I wouldn't mind as long as I had enough time to scan SagA* before I moved on. But given how I encountered nobody on my trip there (or anywhere else) this might have been an interesting and memorable encounter, given that I have the opportunity to walk away from it.

Her motivations are cooky and nonsensical, but the way I see it this is just a variation of space madness... or a rock hermit without the rock ;)
Ok, maybe she's not a griefer, just role-playing... But that doesn't diminish my desire and pleasure to watch someone wipe her out and send her straight back to the bubble where she belongs!!

Really, if I had an Anaconda, I would head there immediately and do it myself!

Sag A* should always be free! It's the explorer's Mecca! Pay some respect, pseudo-majesty!

Well I'll be curious to see how this actually plays out.

If it's just a matter of RPing a bit to get permission, then honestly, what's the big deal? Have fun. Roll with it. There are REAL problem players out there who deserve our ire and need to be dealt with more. Unless she's got OCD she'll get bored and leave eventually.

Have to agree, regardless of roleplay trying to restrict access to one of the galaxies wonders that Devs have paid special attention making awesome is just plain silly and wrong.

@Mossfoot, given the nature of her roleplay it seems she will only be giving "permission" for a certain number of people per day/week/month to enter. To be honest given most of the playerbase don't get involved in the forums/reddit its silly to me. Regardless of how solid your roleplay don't restrict my freedoms. :p
Having said that I've heard from an unnamed source that her "permit request form" is already being spammed with nonsense requests, some of it may actually pretty dark if what I hear is correct...

Easy enough to evade and still get your scan. Just get close enough to scan, target Sgr A*, drop into normal space and continue your scan there. Likely she forgot to add a wake scanner to her vet, so it will take her much longer to get a lock and wiggle into range to drop into your instance than it will take you to complete your scan. Then just jump out.

Not much to Sgr A* other than some unrealistic spatial distortion cam that is centered on your helmet's POV. Not missing anything except "bad astronomy" by bugging out quickly.

True!

Curmudgeony and a bit mean spirited, but also true. ;)

To be 100% honest, I find that duping people with bad astronomy and drug induced graphical effects is curmudgeony and mean spirited. But yeah, spoiler. Sgr A* is one of the few places in ED where bad astronomy is on unabashed display. The mass is off by an order of magnitude, the lensing effect is laughably wrong headed, and the lack of any danger from the black hole itself is utterly disappointing.

Whenever I go to Sgr A* I die a little inside. Just my honest feelings about bad astronomy.

Hey, this is the fun thread! :) Show some respect for the Queen's Royal SMBH.

I know what you mean. I was so excited for my first big trip, it was to Eta Carinae to see it's nebula. Until I got close and realized that Eta Carinae does not have her awe inspiring nebula and the Eta Carinae nebula in game was in fact nowhere near it. As much as I love this game, a small part of me died when I saw that.

On my way back from Beagle Point as we speak to pay her a visit!

Trying to get behind you. In a Corvette. In a system with a massive Black Hole. That should open some opportunities....

This has been a brilliant fun thread to read. Thanks guys for brightening my day. Ashnak's dry statement is my favourite.

I can understand unarmed explorers with several week's worth of data at risk being hyper-cautious, but in reality there are very few griefers in the game. Lots of players who want to interact, and I welcome that. I almost always play in Open, and in sixteen months I have had my ship destroyed exactly once by a "griefer" (and that was my own fault).

And I must say, if Queen Lysiannasa wants to protect nature from the tramp of tourist footfalls, a supermassive black hole that is gradually sucking the entire galaxy into oblivion like a malevolent spider hiding down the plughole is an inspired place to start.

Right on, Commanders - all of you!

The one thing I find odd here, and someone please enlighten me if I am looking at this wrong, is the following;

The 'voice' of this self elected Queen posts on this form, and yet the Queen posts on Reddit. Why? it doesn't make sense!!!

As Judge Judy says "if something doesn't seem right, then it probably isn't.

Cmdr-Wotherspoon;3668762And I must say said:
Not to mention the stupidest...

Name something... anything... that is less subject to the tramp of tourist footfall... I mean, it's a black hole... you couldn't even get a photograph out...

Still wanna' know how our new "queen" plans on stopping me visit the system while I'm flying in solo or Kamzel?

LOLZ...

TBH staking claim to Sag A is daft kudos for getting the ship over there in the first place BUT to actually stake a claim to a galactic landmark is like me going to the US and sticking a flag on Mt Rushmore, complete lunacy. Its just gonna end in bloodshed either way and one thing is there could be loads of Solo annys there already just waiting to drop into Open for the fight who knows ;)
