"I Want It All" Queen of Sag A* in Open - take care

So, this girl is literally a self declared drama queen...

My my, what people will do for attention...

Funny thing is all the drama seems to be coming from other people. If I were her I'd be laughing at the hornet's nest I'd stirred up here without having to fire a shot. Not sure I'd consider it worth dragging a Corvette all the way out there, but she isn't the first (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=168568), and if you're going anyway might as well have fun with it...

You can also tell how bad they would do if they were given actual authority or any kind of foreman positioning, when a rigged Corvette and a pink HUD screen is all it takes for their heads to swell up...[big grin][woah]

Well I've added her to my friends list and we had a bit of a chat. he/she seems like a nice person. Unfortunately I can't say the same for some of the views/opinions/intentions I've seen expressed in this thread. Perhaps if more people were willing to get to know someone rather than mindlessly joining in with the torch carrying pitch-fork mob mentality ..

Aah what's the point. Human nature is not going to change anytime soon alas.

I'll probably do the same, add her to friends.

I think you're mixing up RP and RL. In RL, she may be a nice girl from her conversations in chat - I don't know. In game/RP however, I'm a free ranging explorer/bounty hunter (who does the occasional mission to keep the ship in the clear and detests slave trading). Anybody who is trying to tell me where I can and can't go can shove it En Al Sams La Laissa. Anybody who is actually trying to stop me from where I want to go - well, that's why I'm running an armed ship.

She chose, in RP, to declare sovereignity over a system I want to visit some time in the future. Unlike a not so widely known earthly precursor, though, she announced to demand obeissance and enforce her demands by force of arms. If she had chosen the other path, I might have brought her a case of Chateau de Aegaeon as a gift. However, in this case, my gift will be a few rounds of railgun ammo, point first.

Do you think the CMDR she shot down thinks she is a nice person?

Have to ditto this, I enjoy roleplay in all it's forms until the point where other people get blown up simply for being in the wrong place. It's what put me off Eve in the first 3 hours since so many places have so many claims staked by different factions and players that you practically need a map and a guide just to fly around in neutral areas.
I have nothing against her personally on any level since I don't know her and have never met her (probably). I do think it's silly what she's doing but we've all done silly things in games before, I just detest that it may affect other people negatively who just want to see one of the sights of the game-universe, its not like the people going there have a negative motive in-game.
The other thing is limiting numbers for months/years is just darn silly, I can't see anyone that would fly 25,000Ly and then say, "oh well, I guess I should come back in 12 months because I'm not being let in". Literally everyone will just go in anyway and try their luck or go into solo/group after travelling so far.

I applied for a permit so let's see how this goes. Of course for estimated date of arrival I put May. As in sometime that month.

Update: And I spoke to her, and she seems real nice. So yeah.

Some comments did seem to me to be on a real-life personal level, which is what I was responding to.

I have no idea, I don't know the circumstance. Apparently she does give warnings to leave before opening fire. Maybe the CMDR chose to fight but lost, or simply ignored her.

There's also the option of playing her game and asking permission.

I don't know her motivations, but she is entitled to play the game within the rules as she sees fit, as is everyone else. I don't see it it as either griefing or ganking, but that's just my opinion. I also think she's RP'ing 'nice' in the sense it's not a blind side attack out of the blue as soon as someone enters the system. It's a warning followed by flight or fight, whatever the 'intruder' (as she might see it) elects. And yes, she is easily avoided, even for the unwary who enter the system unknowingly. As mentioned, just leave and go back in solo or group, or fight it out if you want to. Whatever.

To be honest I kind of admire her in a way. One for flying an 11Ly battle cruiser all the way to the core, and two for sticking to her intentions despite the fireworks going off all around her. It shows guts and determination, admirable qualities even if perhaps misdirected.

He told her he'd be gone in 2 minutes. Screenshot posted by herself.

If you shoot down an explorer who travelled at least 27 Kly on a claim you're not a nice person.

Also known as stubborn pettiness.

edit: and by the way, since this is all done just to get attention, she went to look for those fireworks, so excuse me if I don't feel much sympathy for that. If you go: "pleaeaeaese notice me", don't complain when people do.

It takes real guts to boss lightly armed explorers around in a fully armed corvette.

I thought the ganker/griefing conv was dropped really early in this thread and never mentioned again.

Agree, she is playing her role, so it is the rest of the people that want to see this reign burnt.. what is wrong with that?

As far as I know, most of the people here is refusing the queen rights to take over Sag A*, nothing personal about "her commander".

I always love that kind of reasoning. On the one hand her right to babble about being queen of Saggy A* has to be respected. Fair enough. She has every right to do so. Even has every right in the game to demand CMDRs to leave. Sure. Fire on them when they don't. Of course.

On the other hand giving your opinion on that declaration and her actions is mean and not done.

I'd rep you more, Ziggy, but I seem to be out at the moment.

Besides that, I give two pieces of advice, both of which tend to be things forgotten.

First... "Nice" and "Good" are two very different things. I have no doubts that this CMDR is quite nice in her dealings. It's generally proper to be nice and pleasant in dealings with others. However, "nice" goes away once someone arms their weapons. At that point, it becomes a matter of "good" versus "evil". And if she's armed her weapons even once in her greed (and make no mistake, it is greed), she's not acting on the side of the angels.

Second... a "fair fight" is a failure of strategy. Please keep that in mind with whatever plans you have for this event.

Hmmm. I seem to be neither "nice" nor "good". How interesting. :)

As I stated she is limiting the numbers of visitors, yes you can play along but if you are ready to jump in to Sag A* and she says "No" what will you do? Will you just turn around and say "Oh well, nevermind then"?
See the Reddit post for her "motivations" within her role-play, obviously we don't know her real personal motivations but whatever :p

Yes she is entitled but I fail to see why I/we should encourage this behaviour. No I never said she was a grief/ganker either, I just condemned the activity. Ziggy said it in post #284 better than I ever could.

There's a certain code (no not that one) for explorers as evidenced on the Distant Worlds expedition as well as many other areas which this flies in the face of. Killing someone for being in the wrong place/time after that player has had the guts/determination to fly out there and spend all those hours is just plain wrong. See the "let's not encourage this" bit as well as Ziggy's post. :)

She has the right to do what she wants.

That means I also have the right to do what I want.

The issue is what if these two rights do not coincide.

Whose rights should take preference?
