Credits

There needs to be stuff to spend credits on that don't help you get richer, like in Gta you can buy houses or something to just use that don't help. Currently you can only buy more ships and outfitting and not worry about dying. Which makes the game meaningless for end game players. Maybe you could buy hangar space st a station that's yours alone. Or you can transfer money to people or npcs so they don't attack you or to have them do stuff for you. Or with Multicrew have a five player crew so sometimes when you don't feel like playing you can just watch or something while the other four actually work the ship and you pay them for that. Or vanity that doesn't cost real life money. Stuff like that. I don't like spending hours doing stuff just to see numbers to up, even if the game is really amazing and fun to play.

I'll take a donation. Im still 57 million shy of purchasing my economy Anaconda build, and at the moment earning additional credits is feeling a bit stale.

You can always buys tons of slaves and set them free. Don't expect any thanks though. I've let quite few go and they just floated away without a word.

End game players will never understand ED. They will come here - rush to the biggest ship and then leave, complaining that "there is nothing to do". Ignore them and hopefully they will go away all the quicker.

If you actually read what I said you would understand that I'm still saying there's stuff to do. I have played this game since it fully came out and I still try and buy more ships and try different aspects of the game. I'm just saying that maybe there could be more to do with money.

You could buy more ships of a kind so that you don't have to change your paint jobs every time.

"Let's see....today is Monday...I'll fly my blue Conda" :)

Unless one has an epiphany and we can only hope :D

Why not take this idea one step further: Make the paint jobs available for (a lot of) in-game Cr. For a mere 100.000.000 Cr, you can get a paint job from the store w/o paying real money. This would mean, that you need to spend significant game time for it, even with a large ship.

Alternatively, buy several ships of one type and equip them for multiple roles (Trader, Miner, Fighter,...)

Maybe that's because there is no end-state and the game is meant to be played eternally. As you say it's fun to play anyway, if you don't look at those numbers you can have a lot of fun in the smaller ships... You can actually buy over 50% of the ships in game and upgrade them for less than the price of the single stock largest ship. I find 15 upgraded ships so much more fun :D
Also yeah, there's also a lot of content coming and many of your suggestions may make it into the game eventually.

As above if you find yourself with too much money you can always engage in PvP or help new players or do crazy stuff. My celebration for reaching triple Elite will be to take a fully upgraded Corvette and attack a station with it. Just because :D

Like right now I have a corvette for combat which I mainly have been using for undermining, and fas for bounty hunting ( but either could be used for combat zones) a cobra 3 for racing, and an asp for exploration and maybe base trading. I'm saving up for an anaconda which can be used for trading and maybe just a fer de lance because j heard they're fun. But even if I get every ship I'm only ever going to use a few of them. But once I get all of those all I can do is reach triple elite and I'm already a third of the way there. I like playing the game but I also like having goals inside of it. And being Hudson rank 5 makes it pretty easy to reach those goals. I like the idea of being able to purchase the paint jobs and bobbleheads with an insane amount of credits but I feel like this whole thing would work best in the next season. Maybe buying a house on earth for like 200 million credits. Or being able to buy stuff for your ship while you can walk around inside of it; which I think may be the extra thing in horizons. But that kind of thing.

I always thought it would be nice to buy a passenger ship and start a colony on a empty world by moving colonists. There's like a billion billion planets out there and they are just eye candy.

I'm sure colonies could be turned into a credit sink, if they were added.

Yeah maybe, although the problem with adding insanely priced stuff is that people complain the game is nothing but a grind.... Because they see the goal is to get all the things. Sad but true. My goals revolve more around "See the exploration sights in the galaxy", "take on both capital ships and win", "experience all mission types", "experience all ships", "try a good number of loadouts", "Have a meaningful impact on a player group", "Have an impact on the story/background sim if possible", "Contribute to galnet", "Provide a game improvement suggestion that become reality" etc etc
Some are unlikely but I aim to complete all of them before I put Elite to bed.

In any case towards the end of last year I bought pretty much all the ships in the game (previously just had 2 upgraded Anacondas + FDL & Cobra). Spent a good week of play in each ship building upwards and had more fun than I've had in a long time.
That eagle soundtrack, the DBS's stealth capabilities. Then add in some insane builds like all railguns on a Fed Gunship (very fun if a little dangerous, you play with fire and all :p). Can recommend the insane fun portion of just having fun with no fear of re-buy costs.

Besides I'm clocked at over 1150 hours now, expect I'll put in another 200-300 on my current exploration trip until December + another 100ish in all the beta's this year+ playing the end of year catchup. That puts me on about ~1500 hours total for a game I spent ~£180ish total (Lifetime pass + late entry to ED). That equals 12p per hour and that's not counting the coming years. I also plan to get VR for Elite which should add 500 hours or more.
At some point I will put Elite down and stop playing but the future so far is pretty bright and even if I stopped today right now I have my value for money (15p/hr).

Hi Captain Dylan

Now the game is very little content and only grind for ships. The most active players at the moment it grinders and collectors ships. The other players are waiting for when the game will be more like a sandbox (GTA), not the NFS (now).

Braben himself said that he wanted to make a GTA in space not NFS. In the same interview he said that the sandbox part of the game have failed. Now they are actively correct it. Players like you and I are waiting for updates 2.1 +.

While waiting for the update, you can simply enjoy the beauty of the cosmos. This part of the game is implemented by 100%.

"understand ED" lolol like it is something different than other games that only a niche understand. Hilarious

I like this a lot! I think this could be a whole other topic by itself. Start your own colonization company! Basically a player run Sirius Corporation! Scout, new worlds, terraform them, or leave as they are, and start colonies on them. Basically build your own faction system from the ground up. Start planet based, or with a crappy outpost station, then work your way up, and out. I think that'd make help people who are this "endgame" point in Elite. They now have the financial resources to own their own system. 1.250 billion credits will buy you a station right?

The Devs said they didn't want players to "sit behind a desk" so they're not really focusing on strategy, employing others, or starting a business or anything. Anything that really had any financial effect on the game has to be community based so individuals can't really have any effect on the game.

I read your thing but I have a few questions. Is the only way to get the currency missions? And what can you use the currency for if not ships and stuff? My problem isn't how easy money is to get. It's what to do with it.
