By all means play the alpha however you want. It's up to FD to control how various behaviours are dealt with in the full game and you're right - at the moment there are no effective sanctions for any antisocial behaviour and we all know it. But don't insult us by pulling out the "testing" card again because it's not going to wash. Not when you show your true colours with quotes like this:

The bug/issue was tested and reported weeks ago. Now it's just being exploited. Had FD said they had fixed the station protection zones so that combat initiators were dealt with or that the Fed Navy patrol AI were now reacting to combat within the vacinity of the station then that would be a different matter. FD haven't sorted any of that out though so now, rather than 'testing', it's just exploitation of a known issue.

Obviously you're in the Alpha phase but are you accessing the Alpha forum? If not, I would highly recommend you do so and check for a 'Known Issues' thread. If something is listed on there already you're not testing it, just exploiting it.

If it's not already on that list then go ahead and make sure there is a bug/problem but report it once it's confirmed and after reporting it stop 'testing'. Once it's reported there is little benefit in just going over and over the same problem. You just make yourself look like an idiot, frankly.

Once FD report that the bug/issue has been fixed or resolved then go back and test the fix to make sure it is fixed and report back your findings if it isn't. Then stop and wait for FD to report it's been properly fixed. Rince and repeat.

That kind of testing is useful to FD and the improvement of Elite. What you're doing now is just being a griefer who's exploiting an issue with little regard to others doing their own tests and you've only yourself to blame for the backlash unfortunately.

I didn't call you an idiot. I said repeating a test over and over again makes you look like an idiot. I've no idea if you are an idiot or not so I would never call you one. Your actions, however, make you look like you are an idiot. If I was in Alpha and doing the same thing I would equally expect my actions to be called those of an idiot.

Alpha is there for the basic functions of the software to be tested and made sure that they work as the developer intended; not for you or any of the other testers to have fun playing a game. If you do believe you're playing a game rather than testing software then... well, there's no rational comment that isn't going to insult you in some way for that save for the fact you've wasted at least £150 but FD's bank balance probably thanks you very much for the donation.

Maybe you should read up on what an alpha entails.

The side of the game you are trying tot play is not het feature complete. There is currently no system implemented to properly reward/punish the people who think it's fun to shoot fish in a barrel.

Maybe you should go play something else in which you can get your pvpfix until the game is ready for the kind of gameplay you want.

I know what an Alpha is, but just joined recently to play about early, as I'm sure have lots of others.

If you read the string, I don't need a PvP fix. I played about, I'm not there all the time doing this.

Some of the current behaviour seen in Alpha 3 is downright annoying and childish especially when there are only really four locations to go currently when some people like myself and the OP are severely limited in the time they can commit.

This has all been done to death all over the forums, all I can say is what others have already said so I'm not gonna bother saying it

I can't say I've really been a victim of the griefers tbh but can sympathise with people who are only trying to help ED testing but getting spawn killed etc.

We will all get there one way or another and each will find their own part of the galaxy to trade, pirate, bounty hunt and die

Soon as the ends started griefing in a group the first time I stopped playing, if everyone did the same then the alpha would come to a stop until FD got rid of them.

They use all sorts of excuses knowing full well that the alpha favours their rotten behaviour and gives them easy ways to spoil other peoples evenings.

I hope FD have a list of the lot of em and make life nasty for them when the game goes live, i doubt it though.

These are the same idiots who will always take the **** when they know there is no way to get at them face them down in RL and they always just wet themselves so they get their power trips online.

initially I think the "testing" of barracading the station was a good thing. It proved a good point that clearly the defences need some really good teeth which are not there yet.

But that is done now so anyone doing it now are simply being Aholes imo.

That being said................. from what I can tell Paulo claims he was not one of the people doing that. (I read many of the posts in the thread but not all).
IF he was doing it, and attacking green targets then he is fully deserving of the wrath on the thread.

however, he claims it wasnt him... which if this is the case, is this not a bit of a tirade against the wrong guy? (sure he has been attackign humans, which kind of sucks in itself, but that is not as bad as blocking up the whole game imo, and to be fair there are a few semi respected folk on this forum who do the same and yet seem to not get all this vitriol)

anyways, for now i shall go back under my wrong, but, again, & OP fingers crossed on your family mate, after all (and I wont say this often) this is only a game, am sure once your better half improves you wont give a monkey about idiots in this game

Everybody knew that the consequences for being naughty were not there. Everybody knew that there would be griefers. We learned nothing. Yes and No. Even if he was one of the guilty, a tirade against him would be wrong. Attack the actions, not the person who did it. Calling someone names never helps, and is against the policy of every forum I have even used.

There was plenty of vitriol against the actions of the group that did the 'asteroid virus' a couple of weeks back. Indeed, the fact that the game was blocked again despite the level of vitriol then makes it blindingly obvious that griefing was intended.
