Also some of you may already know this but always check the AA-A system in the sector your in, just type in system aa-a in the galmap then see what comes up for that star and surrounding area.

I'm heading to a Wolf Rayet C system in the middle of the rift so will see whats there.

Actually AA-A G or H (A - F on that last one after the AA-A tend to be more normal systems) so Procedural Gen AA-A g or PROGEN AA-A H is the ones youre be after but most of those all over the galaxy have already been mapped at least in the more easily explored areas, and probably soon will be all mapped. So im not sure that is the place to start but it is well worth uncovering all of those anyway to see if it drives Fdevs storylines at all

Yeas, they seem to be small, but they are hot... I have seen quite a few of those. They give nice amount of credits when you sell the data though :)

Credits? I dislike all this money talk. It's unrefined...

Neutron Star "farming" is one of the ways we explorers can "get rich quick". I'm personally on my way to the Western Alpha Neutron Field in my Asp with hopes that a few weeks in that region will be enough to push me into enough money to pay for an Anaconda to take into the rift.

Guide to the neutron star fields here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=163816

Considering that the RR plane is ~48 it could be a 2 line intersection and extending the line from Sgr A* due south, calculated coords would be at about 35 : 48 : 43, closest system being Ackcanphi. (and Pandemonium at 34 : -114 : 46).

Well Pandemonium certainly wins for coolest name...

Indeed. I don't explore for money (if you want money, trade or milk RES sites), I explore, short term for the Elite rank, long term to uncover the hidden depths of background plot, story and wonders hidden in the 'exploration game'... which I hope to hell is actually in the game to find.

It seems that a 'rift' in astronomical terms refers to a dark nebula or molecular cloud that obscures the light from star behind it.

The Great Rift is an example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Rift_(astronomy)

Also referd to as Dark Lanes og Dark Rivers.

Interesting,

This thread inspired me to read Reclamation and enjoy it very much I did.

The seven veils takes on more significance now. Is there a region toward or around the proposed region of the formadine rift with a cluster of seven of these dark regions? They are quiet common, even near the bubble.

I'll have a look when I log on later.

I submitted the following suggestion for a Community Goal to community@frontier.co.uk:

"I've been thinking about this for a while... an opportunity to really help the Explorer community and also help tie up a loose end left open by Frontier Development from back in February of 2015.

On Feb 7th Galnet announced the return of "Jaques' Station", referencing the android bartender introduced in Frontier: Elite 2. It was understood that the station would move around the galaxy about once a week. The idea seems to have been quickly abandoned though and Jaques has been sitting, apparently forgotten, at Gliese 1269 with no explation as to why the "roaming station" hasn't moved.

So... here's my idea for a community goal:

Jaques has been stranded a Gliese 1269 because the expected tourism trade has failed to supply the station with the credits necessary to purchase the fuel to supply the next jump... but now Jaques is ready to go on the move again! Jaques is asking commanders to deliver Hydrogen Fuel to Jaques' Station in Gliese 1269. The fuel will be used to make the jump so exactly how far out beyond the frontier Jaques will go will be entirely dependent on community involvement in the CG.

For each tier of the CG Jaques would be moved 1,000 lightyears. You guys decide where he moves... though if I my opinion counts I'd really like to see him move in the direction of NGC 7822. Where Jaques moves to will really benefit explorers who will have a temporary base of operations during the duration of his stay.

Is this something you guys can work with?"

If we could get Jaques' Station moved somewhere closer to the Formidine Rift... that would be a huge win for those of us trying to work out the mystery.

First time I hear of this Jacques piece, I will definitely have to go to Gliese now and check him out. Massive kudos to hour idea, though!!! I like it

Breaking it down using using generalizations or to put it mildly, keep it simple stupid.

Clue -Watch your six: = look behind you, typically most of us will see the Milky Way when traveling to the Rift or while in the Rift depending on the angle. Is there something special we should see when looking back at the galaxy? A marker of some sorts?

Clue - The core of the problem: First we need to define the problem, which definition best meets this criteria?
1. Don't know exactly where to look.
2. Don't know exactly what were looking for?

1-a. Using the keyword "core" which is commonly known and referred to as the core of the galaxy this must be a play on words, therefore we can assume that core in this case means either, core of the rift, core of a sector, core of a system. Watching our six we can look behind us and see the core but this offers little help.

2-a. Thargoids or worse are most always referred to as coming from the rift or have been seen on the other side, therefore we can safely assume that we are looking for some kind of alien presence, ship wreckage, traces of their existence, or even them.

So the core problem can be narrowed down to 1-a where to look as 2.a provides enough information even though still vague.

Clue - The etymology of the name Kahina: Diviner or fortune teller, this clue is too ambiguous and is considered noise for now.

Clue - Formidine: Translated from Latin = Dread/Fear, no systems or areas equate into a similarity of the words dread/fear, there is a lot to be feared out in the rift, or the sense of dread when you hit a dead end but so far that's about it. This clue is noise for now.

Clue- Depends on who goes looking: This is just a reference on the nature of the individual who goes looking, do they have the patience, the willingness to search the enormous expanse, nothing special is required other than the ability to read between the lines of the clues given, and the sheer patience to keep at it.

Because of the sheer size of the area in question the Rift plus the outer arm, without any other substantial information this will take a very, very long time to find, it can't be the Bovomit sector as it is currently locked out, and I don't think the key to unlock has been in place since launch, or has it?

So to sum up all the madness, were looking for a system that has been accessible since launch that should in theory contain some sort of evidence of an alien presence.

Hi. I've been looking for Raxxla for some time now. I new about this thread, but didn't really follow it as it seems that the only hint being followed was those missions in the OP, which you can only get on Elite.

As I believe FD wouldn't have placed something in the game and then locked it to a select few, I started looking at other approaches, which by the way all failed (or are yet inconclusive). I'll post them here just in case someone can finally kill my theories and I can rest in peace, help them move them forward, or at least give another approach and discussion to this search...

"A planet older than the Galaxy itself" - With this sentence in my head (found here), I started searching Wikipedia and other astronomical sources for the oldest stars in our galaxy. I was surprised that there are a few known stars that are actually almost as old as the universe itself inside our own galaxy! So that was it, one of them could be it... Here came the first failure. Most of these stars were actually cataloged in 2014/2015, so it was very probable that they wouldn't be in the game. I did find 2 though, but on arriving there, their ages didn't correspond with real data, and thus were probably procedural. Dead end here, although I might not have found them all...

"Parents tell their offspring the story of a ghost planet, beyond witchspace, lost in the void" - Second sentence burnt into my brain... (found again on the same link as before). Here I get to understand that Raxxla might be a rogue planet, maybe without a sun, and thus unreachable through normal means. This didn't get me to any system, but it brought me to think that Raxxla might not be a simple planet that we will find happily sitting there in the system map for us to scan so easy. My guess here is that it might be discover-able in a way similar to the ancient probes found in Sol, by flying out there and they'd pop up at some point. This would make the search very difficult, and would force to find first the correct system from which to search, and as thus I see this as improbable.

Researching on rogue planets, I did see that those that have been discovered have been cataloged initially as "Sub-brown dwarfs", and I'm in the process of studying them now better and might follow now this approach. Although with the utter mind blowing success I had with the elder stars, this might just as well prove to be another loss of time

The other thing I tried once I was bored of chasing old stars and from the solitude beyond the frontier was to re-read "The Dark Wheel", which is in fact considered official lore (at least I think so). There isn't much on Raxxla there, apart from it being the main drive of the main character and his father. So I set off to follow the steps of Alex Ryder. I ignored Leesti and Lave, and jumped directly to Tionisla. In the book, there is a graveyard here between the planet and the sun. Now, I didn't expect to find the graveyard here, but I did search the asteroid fields between planet and star for something "different"... I tried as well to find Rafe's ship, but no dice.

I continued to follow Alex Ryder's steps until I hit a permit system, which I hadn't access to. Investigating a bit, I found out that others had tried to get access to this system, but even with a permit in hand, the system remained locked by the dev's for future content probably. I finally gave up on this approach as well...

And now, I just found out of the mysterious Lady Kahina forum thread, which I'm going to follow closely.

I have really been very interested in Raxxla since I found about it, but at the moment the elusive leads are getting a bit frustrating. I just really hope that it's not locked only to Elite commanders, as that would be a great bummer. I'm not that far from Elite myself in exploration, but even so, it's still a brutal grind to get there.

If anybody has any further ideas on how to proceed with the search, I'm more than willing to keep on it and to help with any attempt. I hope as well that my points and failed tries above mentioned can maybe help start other discussions and other means of approach that are not only locked to Elite commanders.

I'm a member of the Children of Raxxla, but there have been few attempts to search for Raxxla there at the moment.

Mind you, "Raxxla - The definitive guide" by Drew Wagar to which I link in this post is not considered official lore (or at least that I know of). But as there is not much on the topic, they might have very well adapted parts of it, but is just speculation...

I would say you were doing all the right things, Commander.

Cheers,

Drew.

To me this indicates the level of depth and complexity and types of the puzzle we're dealing with. It may not be enough to stumble upon the correct system and honk and/or do a detailed system scan but also check out deep space within the system.

Also the the dance of the 7 veils is a progression of steps, a progress, so can anything be made of Kahina's trip, a royal progress?
Here's an archive of that http://ed.frank-heinrich.net/index.php?title=Galnet_Collection_Senator_Kahina.

Forgive me if this has been stated already but I think I found the reasoning behind the medallion found in her courier:

Lady Kahina’s Imperial tiara was found in the cockpit, along with a small medallion bearing an ancient symbol on one side and the word ‘Salomé’ on the other.

The symbol is believed to belong to an organisation some refer to as ‘The Dark Wheel’.

Connection from Reclamation (possible spoiler):

‘Salomé is dead.’ She stepped back, eyes flashing. ‘She never even existed.’ She took off her ID bracelet and threw it at him. ‘I am Lady Kahina Tijani Loren of Chione. Do we have a deal or not?’

So it seems Kahina is now dead, and she has become Salomé again, wishing to follow her hearts desire and explore. Not sure about the dark wheel connection..need to keep digging

Nothing really earth shattering but I just stumbled across this

Yea didn't mean to intend that the mystery isn't complex, just keep the approach to ciphering the clues as simple as possible, folks tend to over analyze and complicate the information which just obfuscates the information even more.

I tend to work the problem backwards as I am learning how to ask the right question in order to solve a problem.

"If I had an hour to solve a problem and my life depended on the solution, I would spend the first 55 minutes determining the proper question to ask, for once I know the proper question, I could solve the problem in less than five minutes."

Not to give too much away here,

But I have been doing some research. And I think that the biggest problem we are all facing is this:

We don't know how Elite Dangerous works. Simple as that. None of us do. We don't know "if" there are other ways of progressing within this "Galaxy" Their communication in this respect has been...well... rubbish.

For example, I recently spotted several systems that had references to "the seven veils" I also spotted a few systems that had -quite intelligent references to the story "Behind" the name of "Regor". So much so, that the only conclusion was was that I had to make a "Pilgrimage" to each one... Simply because I don't understand HOW to differentiate between the information-- It was literally the only thing I could do. Sure, if I didn't have a job I could get to Allied in each ten or so systems... but this is real life baby. And then... where does that get me?

NOWHERE.

Really, im getting fed up with this.

Keep the Faith Gypsy. If this was something easily and quickly solved, how much fun would that be?

I was adding to your list while implying I see a double puzzle, 1 layer logical and the other symbolic. One eye's trees and the other eye's forest. Search for the Higgs meets the Da Vinci code. Two puzzle types that don't naturally get along.

However there is one quick certain path to solution, waterboard Drew.
Just kidding of course, it's ineffective anyway and I would never ever suggest taking him out for an evening of bourbon and pentathol either.
Probably doesn't even like bourbon, though it really covers the taste.
