[Distant Worlds] - A Rather Uncommon Flotilla

Hello fellow Transporter CMDRs!

I am currently en route to BP with about only 25 jumps to make. My full tank range is 23.7 ly only, but I have just enough boosts to make it.
Once there, I will probably power down the ship and wait for the main fleet to arrive so I'll be there at the grand gathering.

Aaaaand here is a screenshot of the longest jump I made (so far), that was the beginning of the final approach - the leap of faith. :)

Well done, Cmdr. Looking forward to meeting up soon(-ish). I am still a Long-Jump Virgin and, from the sound of it, won't get to use an Jumponium until I am in the vicinity of WP18.

In other news the Hober Mallow II touched down very gently at WP13 tonight.

Heading for my cabin and some sleep.

Fly safe, Cmdrs

My T-6E can manage 27.47LY fully-laden with fuel. I have plenty of Long-Jump materials in the hold.

I do use EDD2 but I don't sync with EDSM as I want this particular EDD2-database to be purely Distant Worlds. If I sync with EDSM now I will get my whole pre-DW life-story attached to this version of the database.

I use Elite with EDD2 on two separate PCs so occasionally I go to the second one, login, fire up EDD2, sync to EDSM and then log-off. I haven't done this since the 2.0.6 update as I keep forgetting to get a new validation code. I will rectify matters this afternoon.

Fly safe

As for getting to BP, I've got a route from Iron Orchid - it was easy to reach BP with my 23.7ly ship and it is also much less jumponium-demanding than the "official" route.

See below, I made only minor adjustments around the final steps.

Can you give us the full some more details?

Would you be able to put this in a spreadsheet?

At 18.2 lys I'm personally interested in the last kylie.

Me too - thanks for posting that. I am far behind the main DW fleet now due to a house move and - coughs - 'manflu' but will crawl onwards. My jump range is only 25 LYs.

Not OP of the route, so I can't give any more details, but I threw it in a spreadsheet for you, complete with jumponium needed for an 18.2 LY ship and even the exact amount of materials you'll need. Should all be correct. There's another column dedicated to a 19.74 LY jump range because that's what my Corvette can do.

CMDR Tenderizer, thanks for making the spreadsheet.

I made an enhanced version, CMDRs only need to fill in their unboosted jump-range and their current stock to see what is needed. Please take a look - should it be useful, we could share with a wider audience!

Edit: the sheet calculates with 'on the fumes' suggestions - I used 1.5 lys extra when running on low fuel, is that right, or should I update it?

Very nice. I made mine in between jumps - I see now how far a bit of extra effort would have gone! And it matches what I said, so I was right!

Not so sure about the on the fumes bit - for a Type 6, which is light, losing just a small amount of mass will have a (comparatively) large effect, whereas in the Corvette, which is heavy, losing pretty much all my fuel adds .04 LY at best. It all depends on the mass of the ship in question.

Thanks for checking it! I'll update it to add 1ly only with a comment, that it is a generic value to give heads-up.

If you are at BP, let us meet! Will you also wait for the big DW gathering?

I wish I was at Beagle Point. I only just left WP19. And given the time we arrive, I may end up being late because of real life issues. I'm going to try pull ahead of everyone else within the next 3 weeks, before I'm busy.

When I get there, I hope to meet you!

I feel your pain. I left early and skipped all the waypoints (though I spent quite some time just hanging around the core) to make it here in time.
It turned out that I had less RL 'distractions' than I expected, so I arrived early.

To be frank, the region around the Abyssal Plains is very boring so plenty of endurance is needed, especially as it is highly advised to make a detour and fly the longer, but safer route to the East with any low range ship. I did just that, but still I had to re-route a lot because of unscoopables. I'd advise to try to buckyball it until you arrive at the outer arm so that you can take your time for the final approach, and collect mats if needed.

Unscoopables are my biggest worry. But at least Beagle Point is green, so I only need to get enough mats to get there. That's still a lot, though. Was it only for the last few jumps you needed it?

I had to use one standard at the first step already! There are about 2-3 sessions where you have to use boost... I calculated 6 standard necessary boosts in total, but managed to save 2 by jumping with basic on the fumes. My ship has 23.7 ly range, so it was easy.
In any case, you should contact the rock rats as you'll surely need premium jumps and will need to stock them before arriving at the final leg.

Unscoopables will only slow you down, I was able to find scoopables just 1-2 jumps away. CMDR Frawd Digger had to scoop every second star, and he still made it!
