[Distant Worlds] - A Rather Uncommon Flotilla

Meanwhile, the T7 is part way across the 9000LY between WP20 and WP21. So far no problems with routing, but that is likely to change at the Abyss.

The ship became quite a tourist attraction at the WP20 Open meetup :D

Touched down at WP15 tonight.

This Rose Nebula...quite the spectacle, isn't it?

Yeah, never seen such a richly coloured nebula! Couldn't resist to make tons of screenies.

Don't miss the next one too, it's one of the most beautiful WPs of the whole expedition!

No wonder, in a sea of ASPs and Anacondas! :)
I will add you guys in-game, it would be cool to park the Transporters separately upon the gathering.

Otherwise, I've currently powered down the ship at BP and asked Chewbakka to upgrade the hyperdrive -> I will buy a GTX960 4gb video card, that should be a major upgrade for me (AMD Radeon 7800) - apparently that is the max my PC can take without a rebuild.
If I appear noob, that's because I am (a PlayStation fugitive). :)

We will have to do that, get the transport wing together :D

I fancy a Keelback when I get back to civilisation, could be a decent armed runner.... and will be able to launch a fighter!

CMDR Frawd Digger had to scoop every second star, and he still made it!

There are quite a few unscoopables heading up the carina-sag arm towards BP...it was was quite a maze at times but I did manage to get within about 800LY of BP (with no jumponium). As optimal_909 says...2T tank, need to refuel every other star so not too difficult

I wonder how this fighter launch will work. I'd prefer it to be NPC controlled as I'm pretty bad in dogfights, but I partly blame the mouse+keyboard combo - not very well suited to flight assist off.

What could be more interesting is to use the fighter as a landing vessel. Especially if a Sidewinder fits the hangar, as it can swallow an SRV and otherwise could be used as an escape pod in case the ship is badly damaged.

We won't be carrying Sidewinders, that's already been said. But if the fighter can be used as a lander, that'd be great, even just to use it as a fast aerial recon ship. I can't wait to see how they are going to work.

T7 has made Roncevaux, WP21. What a slog that was

Then the big question mark will be how many of those internals will be consumed by the fighter bay, the opening is huge.
latest

If it eats up 2-3, then the Keelback will barely work as an explorer with a recon fighter...

Cannot decide whether to wait for the FGE on Sunday...or to make a start and press on to WP17.

EDIT: Reader, I pressed on...

The T-7E has successfully crossed the Abyss at Roncevaux.

That was not easy. It went fine for the first 1500LY, then the plotter refused to do any more than 150LY at a time. Even then I had to backtrack a few times as i came to dead-ends. There are areas of unscoopable stars that you will need to use to get a route across. I'd advise dropping down to Z -70 as this seems to give a little more star density.

With 23LY range, I didn't need to use any boosts, if you are at 25LY or above, you should have an easier time.

Congrats for crossing the Abyss!

And that image is sublime, one of the best I saw hands down!

Good to see you guys closing in! I'm looking forward for the big meeting, but also for the journey backward - it will be nice to hit the road again!

I've just upgraded my graphics card from outdated to okayish (GTX 960), so planet surfaces now run around 45fps on ultra setting. It did make a difference!
