Goodnight folks!

So it's goodnight from me as I bed down with some rock under my conda tonight, May all explorers out there have a safe trip wherever they are going, keep exploring, keep discovering and keep being amazed the the beauty of our fantastic galaxy.

A moment of silence for our brother in the low Framezone.

But a very nice shot of your conda, never noticed that airlock there, gonna have to inspect more closely on Eisen's conda next time! ;)

Cheers,

Nice photo... almost makes me want to head back out into the void.... But, I must refrain from doing so until Engineers are out. If I can improve the jump range of 1 ship I will be gone for a while.....

So... how safe is it to log out on a planet? I've quit doing it after I fell below the surface when checking in again. Fortunately, by immediately quitting and loading E : D w/o Horizons put me back into orbit - but I don't stay overnight on a planet ever since.

Fer-de-Explorance? :)

Edit: I'm at 30 fps on planets... [blah]
I'll get a GTX 960 next week, here is hope it will be a major upgrade from the Radeon 7800 I have. I'm not an expert, but I was advised not to buy anything better as the rest of the machine won't keep up.

Hey guys thanks for the replies! I was feeling lonely hehe

Yea I've never had any problems landing on planets before, in fact I want to make a habit out of it to find somewhere nice to land before I log out, this was actually a really great spot, after turning off all systems the sun still kept me 12% warm which was nice!

I'm not to far out yet as I had a little set back last week when I tried to headbutt a planet, I was livid! I don't die to often and I felt like crying, needless to say I land very... VERY! carefully now :p

I was going to wait on exploration until 2.1 but with the delay I couldn't hold back anymore, the itch for exploration was calling!

Here is tonight's pic, i'm gonna have to close my blackout curtains in the bunk though as there were 2 suns on opposite sides so no night time! good thing it's not terraformable, I wouldn't wanna live here

Is it the 2GB 960 or the 4GB that you're getting?

I run a 4GB 960 and I run 60 fps capped, with a small drop to 50 fps minimum on planet surfaces. Maybe in the 40's in busy environments. As an explorer I don't see many planet-side buildings!

This is on high settings. :)

Definitely the 4gb, I understand it is a must for Elite!

Ridiculous though, here is the timeline of my 'career' so far:
Step 1: see E : D discounted for about €9 on Steam - I thought: nice, I know this title from the '80s let's give it a try!
Step 2: get hooked, pre-order Horizons at full price (€40?)
Step 3: buy a better monitor to replace the stone-age 4:3 I had before for about €150 to give this game a justice
Step 4: see Obsidian Ant's videos on YT and realize the game is nowhere as beautiful on my rig --> decided to buy a new GPU for €200 or so

OP: sorry for being OT!
I also had the habit of staying overnight on planets, especially to see changes due to rotation/orbit after logging back. I'm just scared to do it after that particular accident.

It's a picture postcard view... a series of picture postcards slowly slapped onto the table one after the other.
