Understand the issue is ground attack so.... At HIP 10716 you can do the secret data delivery missions, only choosing the ones to another Empire station, for the best single-mission Empire rank gain I'm aware of (can be 3% per mission on the run-up to Duke). Not sure where else is good for those.

If your signature is accurate, you should get yourself an ASP Explorer and go to Robigo and do shadow delivery missions for the CDE Empire minor faction. You'll be making money to afford that brand spanking new Cutter AND ranking up in the Empire!
Or do HIP 10716 and reduce that ~2 month to ~2 hours.
Thanks for the advice and I know about Robigo. I already have the Credits to buy one (~710 Mil.) and when I'm Marquis I'll have a bit more. Like I said, I'm in no hurry.

I've ended up hostile at Morgan on HIP 10716. Is there any way back from that? Tedious flying around collecting escape pods and then trying to stack S&R missions for the Nobles?
I did the surface assault missions in a Python, and to make the process more repetitive and automatic, I bought an auto-dock computer. Once I reached hostile status with the Nobles though, I could no longer use the auto-dock. Being upset that I have to stop watching The Office to dock, I had to fix my reputation with the Nobles. So I did the occasional donation missions that the Nobles gave at Morgan and it brought my rep with them up to neutral, allowing me to use the auto-dock computer again.
When I say occasional, I mean it gave me one every three refresh. I did about three donations before I was no longer hostile. No, the Nobles are not an Empire faction so no rankup for doing the donation mission. You should only worry about your hostile status with the Nobles if you care, of if you're using an auto-dock computer.
Ended up hostile there as well, but ignored that and continued grinding for the assault missions. Sooner or later, charity missions for the Nobles pop up, dothem (10k-20k credits each IIRC), and pretty soon you are back to unfriendly or even neutral.

That is the ideal way to deal with the situation, but I must admit I am a bit more in a hurry to get my damn Cutter!!
I'm currently 24% Count and I can't see the end to this long grind...
I have 2 Cutters, if only we were allowed to buy/sell our ships in-game.
Long thread and ive read the OP a few times. Im sitting in TUN and getting the charity missions (really want a vette lol) Is there another way of ranking up? Dont really want to sit in tun and just click and donate.
Basically i know the charity makes your rank go up but i havent found what else helps it go up. Do trading missions / data delivery missions count?

The charity missions are the most effective. You'll reach high ranks in a few hours if you try.
