I was just wondering will there be a rear view say if you press a key like in Frontier Elite?.

Unless I totally imagined it I think David has already said that there will be no alternate views. I personally think this is a shame because there are instances where seeing what is directly behind your ship could prove helpful.

External views can be interesting above all for video editing matters. :smilie:

Anyway, talking about gameplay, fighter pilots need a very good visibility to be efficient (this is one of the many reasons F-35 is so criticized).

I think in the 3200 ships will be at least provided with a camera on the rear.

You would think a spaceship would have a rear view option with the ability to fly into space stations and also fly backwards.

But as far as pure game play goes it adds something I suppose, but I won't mind if we never get that.

They haven't ruled out rear views, there is a thread around here somewhere about it.

Hopefully the rear view will be a rare view, for this roaring review.

Regarding the.. ah... dorsal view, can't we just wait until they make the ship interiors, and have another fellow stand back there and yell to you. "Just a bit closer, a little more... a tiny bit more... NO STOP, REVERSE. AGHH!" That works very well, with a bit of practice!

I remember in FE2, the rear view was very pleasant when we took off from a spaceport. Sometimes the police pursued you. Really very immersif. I hope that it will be similar with ED when there will be the planetary landings

For gameplay purposes Im happy if there are no external views and the likes.
Puts more effort on the pilot to keep awareness and control of the ship.

But I wouldn't mind if it was possible to pull up a rear mounted camera on the HUD or in one of the menus.
Maybe as a module.

I'm all for cameras and alternative views. And I think the asteroid miners might be too. ...Oh no Don't look now! There's a stealth asteroid running silent on my six!
