VR patch incoming today !

Nope, completely broken on 05/06.. Maybe 0.8 works with steam VR

Crap !!!! thought that might be the case :( Oh well, looks like will have to wait for Oculus 1.3 Runtime to drop or try 0.8 runtime and see what happens. Don't want to go down the SteamVR route though :(

But at least CV1 support is nearly here :)

Yep - looks like a ruined weekend. Will wait to hear from steamVR users.
When I fire up ED the DK2 is regarded as a side-by-side display. It seems to think my joystick is unplugged as well as the bindings may be broke. No positional tracking at all. Oculus Demo Scene still works fine. :(
I was previously using SDK 0.5

Not good news, I am running a dual boot PC with Win7 and 0.5 for ED. Might try and get ED on my Windows 10 platform, but had massive issues with DK2 drivers last time.
May as well call it quits this weekend and wait for the newer Oculus runtime and see if that works.

Why did they have to push this update before a long weekend when lots of us would be playing, breaking support during just this long weekend? Arrgh! All for it to of course be working again once we've no longer got time off to play the game.

Im sorry to hear DK2s dont work anymore guys. hang on a little bit more for the CV :/

Now on my update : It works marvellously on the rig in the signature on Ultra preset (shadows too) and MSAA AND SS1.5
It's amazing ..

P.S the GPU is clocked by 100/300/40mV

I'd post a picture of me playing but i suppose i'd get more ppl angry at me :)

sorry for quoting myself guys but it's just so ppl don't miss the info

oh oh !! forgot to say - For some reasons the RIft headphones don't work in ED. Needs some fixing i suppose ..

update

I can confirm that DK2 still works fine with SDK .8 and SteamVR. Well, as fine as it normally does with the wrapper.

So, Monday for the 1.3 access, wonder if performance will improve.

0.8 seems to work just fine for me. Still looks like it uses SteamVR though, which is a shame (but not that big a deal considering runtime 1.3 drops on Monday, I suppose!).

The new menu looks cool!

My PC is just adequate to run ED:H smoothly during > 99% of the time. One can safely assume it then it probably can't run CV1.

Hard to say. Word is, Async TimeWarp does wonders for judder. Question is, do the performance improvements outweigh the increased resolution / refresh rate of the CV1?

Just had a mess around with the new VR experience training mission in patch 2.0.7

It's an interesting addition with some scripted things happening, an Anaconda hovers above your landing pad at the start. Some of the controls are automated (landing gear and frame-shift) which makes it really good for demonstrating the game in VR for the first time.

The scenario has you interdicted just outside an outpost where you get attacked by imperial fighters. Well worth a play even if you don't have a VR headset.

Just trying it now, sat in the Keelback. Wish I switched to 0.8 earlier, just as smooth as 0.5 on my rig, but the IPD is back to normal.

Only issue I'm having is the screen snapping if I lean or move around, FPS is rock solid, just the visuals suddenly move. Is that a known issue with 0.8?

update

Hi does that include planetary stuff?

Can you chat about cv1 at all or are you sticking with NDA?

My main thing is how does fov compare to dk2? Is it a concern

Thanks.

Throughout vr game play with 0.5 and 0.8 I frequently have to reset my HMD position because it puts my view point either in my chest or 10" above my head.
Some times every 10-15 mins. Mega annoying really..
Is that what you mean?

Hi Mike

Yes I have excellent judder-free performance everywhere. I tried a few big space stations, ground stations, several planets with multiple type of featues as well as densely populated systems. I have no problem running Ultra + MSAA + SS1.5

As for a CV chat - there's probably nothing you can ask me that hasn't already been answered by the reddit leak guy a few days back :) Even the pixel layout was revealed.

For the FoV - I'll be honest with you, I haven't used a DK2 in many many months now so I can't make exact comparisons, but it seemed very much sameish.
Certainly it's not more of a concern than the DK2, that at least I can assure you.

Nah sorry, this is something else. I think it's just this stupid steam calibration, cant wait till I can ditch steam.
