Emergent gameplay? Logging in and out to harvest alloys

Why is it that for me to have any kind of effect on this CG, I am forced to log in and out to harvest these alloys?

If i were to travel between these barnacles it would take forever to harvest just 10 tons, and I would have to know excatly where they are located. I wouldn`t mind this at all, but if I actually did this I would only be able to harvest a few tons in the same time where I could fill my cargo room by logging in and out of instances. I am fully aware that I choose to do this myself, but if I want to help the community the best that I can, I need to do this. The numbers needed by the CG reflects that it is needed for us to log in and out to achieve just tier 1. As it looks right now we might just barely reach tier 3, and this is because people are logging in and out. How would the numbers appear if people actually needed to move between barnacles to harvest them. I wish there was some easy fix for this, but I doubt there is. I would prefer that CG´s like these are not in game untill there is a fix for it.

An item like this Corrosion resistant cargorack was probably better left for the Engineers where you would turn in some ammount of tons of alloy for the module.

Well, IMHO once in a while...

If Players really want to be successful they naturally use all available means to maximize their raw effectiveness (me being no exception at times).

The downside just often is, that emergent Gameplay then typically moves to the background and is replaced by *hmm* let's call it emergency Gameplay ;)
Time's short and I believe Meta Alloys are hard to come by otherwise, so it's completely normal that respawn mechanics are used. After all, respawn everything does in the Game...

That non-persistence would need some tweaks or "little helpers" I guess when it comes to Meta Alloys.
Maybe POIs 100km around the Barnacle with limited/variable stashes of them, that would work as a good alternative (crashed Ships etc.). Even would fit the frequent PvP events around those sites.
Those POIs in other places could also serve as breadcrumbs, assisting in locating new Barnacle sites.

That's how I would have implemented it.

I feel your pain. I get it the same when I'm forced to cheat to get these massive bounty payouts. FD, please change the code so that we can get loads of credits without needing to cheat or use exploits. It's a real pain having to play the game for weeks just so that we can fly an Imperial Cutter:

There are 3 barnacles in close proximity on Pleione 11 A. 0.8185/176.5622, 2.3189/177.2434, -6.2472/-173.9321.
I went there last night and did all three in succession. Not as quick as logging off and on but much more interesting.
These are also at the bottom of deep valleys and it was dark so you do need to use your compass.
.
There looks to be some others that are close to each other in this list:

that you could select so that you wouldn't be forced to log if you really don't want to.

It's all down to how you want to play and what satisfies you, I suppose, each to their own.

"Gameplay"

Meanwhile I'm happily submitting distances over to EDSM some 12k LY from Earth. Enjoy your barnacles.

232 million from one claim... And here I was happy with my new record of 5 mil in one run a mere two hours ago. Obviously I'm doing something wrong. Unless of course you hunted for 40 hours before finally heading back to the station. :p

hey there. just want to give info about line breaks on forums. just use two at the end and you don't have to use the dot as workaround.

It seems like you are missing the point, if we as a community want to finnish these type of goals we are forced to log in and out. That is actually what i do NOT want to do. The credits recieved in the end does not mean anything in my perspective.

Its just highlighting bad mechanics, they love doing this to always paint themselves in the worst light.

If the goal was set at open + none resetting availability it would have been complete in an hour all 8 tiers

So its set to reset/solo availability where the mechanics look incredibly stupid but it isn't the easiest CG in the universe.

HOW THE HELL DID YOU MANAGE THAT?!?!?!?!?

The clue is in the picture, he's signed up for Hudson in Powerplay so gets massive bounty bonuses. Look at the Federation bonuses and one minor faction compared to the other minor faction ones. ALD gives the bonuses too if I recall correctly, although obviously not for Federation bounties.

Thanks AreZee, I thought something had changed for a moment. Two line breaks don't actually fix the issue. It's a problem with some of the Forum Themes, I use Elite Tempered, and the way IE11 displays (or not) line breaks. Firefox works as you would expect with all of the Forum Themes.
Putting a "." to signify the line break gap is the quickest way around this and I just accept it looks a bit naff.
