Can you remotely sell ships?

Hidy ho all,

Some of you may have noticed I've been posting around here, trying to get back into this game, and asking questions as a result.

Yesterday I stared the long 20 jump trek to finally go pickup the communities gift to me. The email I go, said I had to go to a system, and claim a ship, the community gave me (via completing those community goals, thanks again!).

Trouble is, that system was 20 jumps from my starting position.

After some npc combat trouble, I ragequit (i don't understand how combat is supposed to be fun in this game). But earlier in my trek, I came across a shipyard, and tried to remotely sell the ship I'm trying to pickup. It lists the system (the Gunnovale system), and shows the ship type. But there were no other buttons for the ship listing.

So my question is, can I remotely sell ships in general, and I just have to get to the station the ship is docked at, claim it, and sell it that way? Or can I not remotely sell ships at all?

On a side note, how does one go about claiming stuff in this game?

Afraid not CMDR, have to actually go to the location to conduct your business.

Hi,
As above you can't do remote access on pretty much anything. This particular reward has been added into the game fairly manually so in other words they've just added a ship on your account at X location. It's not actually a bad ship if outfitted correctly although you can go over and just sell it for around 400,000Cr iirc.

Best way is get a cheap hauler outfitted similar to this:
http://www.edshipyard.com/#/L=70V,mpT01Q01Q,2-3m3m3I2C2C2C3c,7Py4zq
Since it can do 25Ly per jump allowing you to get there, sell it and jump back to your current ship fairly quickly. Then downgrade and sell the hauler, it should cost you about 6,000Cr to do the round-trip.

The only remote thing you can do is recall your ship if you are dune buggying about on some planet...other than that even though the year is 3000 plus assume you have crash landed as ET did back in the 70's and then subtract 60 yrs from that technology wise. You cant even claim bounties sitting in other systems.
The chance of any remote action occuring in this game is little and none, and Mr Little left town a month ago.

Yes I've been playing this game for what seems like an eternity but for whatever reason I never considered the Hauler as a taxi vessel (it kinda gets skipped on the ship ladder), but I didn't know it had such a decent jump range. Been using Cobras instead of Sideys but good tip on the Hauler, cheers :)

2 years later you still cant transport your ships, you still cant sell your ships, you still cant store ships with cargo, you still cant transfer cargo/equipment from one ship to the other. Unfortunately the game still lacks basic functions.
