Title: Worker’s Strike Crushed in Mingh System

Text (112 words):
Over 100 workers are confirmed dead at the Zalyotin Mining Station in Mingh after a brutal crackdown, yesterday. A series of work stoppages and slowdowns had been planned to protest exploitative work practices. The Mingh Vision Network corporation responded by bringing in a battalion of private security forces.

The action has been strongly condemned by the Workers of Mingh Green Party, the governing body of the nearby Federation backed Furukawa terraforming project. “Corporate profits cannot come at the expense of human lives or dignity If these are the policies our stellar neighbor wishes to enforce, their future in this system is uncertain.” The Mingh Vision Network declined to comment on the strike.

Title: Unkown Artifact Worth Over 64 Million Credits?!

Description (148 words):
Unknown Artifacts are rare and hard to keep due to the module damage they inflict on ships carrying them. Lifespan of an Unknown Artifact in captivity is short and go for a high price on black markets. Recently after a brawl near a tavern a black market dealer had met someone with an Unknown Artifact still in perfect condition after having it for an estimated ten months. The dealer offered sixty four million credits, he is suspected of having company links to support this transaction. The supposed owner of, what is thought be the oldest living Unknown Artifact in existence made a fast exit from the station in his Cobra MKIII, out running station and security force scanners before they could verify it was on board. The ship owned by a CMDR Ratking15 is experienced in encounters with Unknown Artifacts.

Title: Local Militias Open Fire on Lightly Armed Research Ships

Canonn Interstellar recently announced a joint operation between various independent organizations to supply meta-alloys to various independent labs in Ackerman Market in the hope that further in-depth study of the exotic extraterrestrial materials may hold the key to solving the mechanical failures plaguing the station. Though local scientific groups had expressed their support of the operation, tensions in the system began to mount as some local agitators and loosely organized militia groups began to voice their displeasure at the sudden influx of ships and materiel.

However, the tensions came to a head when CMDR Kermit Laphroaig of the Diamond Frogs private security firm made a visit to Ackerman Market himself to meet with representatives of the scientific community and to provide encouragement to the contractors making the hard journey to the Pleiades and back. Though initial reports indicated that the visit would be nothing more than a simple goodwill tour, the space outside the station soon erupted into violence as local militias opened fire on Diamond Frogs ships attempting to deliver the meta-alloys to the station. Despite the best efforts of their crews, the lightly armed research and delivery vessels were no match for the heavily armed combat vessels of the militia pilots and within the hour multiple casualties were reported due to this unprovoked attack. Though as of this writing there has been no official response from Eravate System Authorities, the Diamond Frogs have now issued a general warning bulletin to all pilots within the area to steer clear of the system for their own safety until the violence can be brought under control.

TITLE: Congressional Investigation Expands Scope

DESCRIPTION: Following the news of a new strain of Cerberus Plague surfacing in the Nespeleve system the Congressional Oversight Committee quickly launched a concurrent investigation into the source of this new outbreak. General Mathew Hopkins was on Mars today to deliver intelligence relevant to the investigations after a brief hospitalization however he general refused to elaborate further when pressed for details on his injuries and the nature of the intelligence he would be presenting.

An anonymous source has however leaked footage of a damaged and adrift Farragut outside civilized space in the Fjorgyn Sector, as well as heavily redacted transcripts of the days proceedings including references to an arm of the Intergalactic Naval Reserve Arm that has potentially “gone completely off the reservation”.

Title: Dr Arcanonn pledges support for Obsidian Orbital meta alloy drive
Location: Galnet
Time: (hopefully Tuesday to keep the CG alive!)
Description:

Verity Gavroche, official Canonn reporter, has issued this interview with Dr Arcanonn regarding the latest drive to collect meta alloys by the Pioneers’ Cooperative:

"On 24th March, the Pioneers’ Cooperative – an initiative of which the Canonn is a proud member – placed an open order for meta alloys to be delivered to Obsidian Orbital in Maia."

"The goal is to gather enough of the substance from the known large barnacle sites around the Pleiades to start producing ship modules that are resistant to the UA self-repair mechanism, thus preventing systems degradation in ships which transport UAs."

"Obviously, our considerable interest in the UAs means that the possibility of being able to transport them anywhere in the galaxy without incurring ship damage is extremely exciting for us."

"In addition to the considerable money on offer, I’m certain that being able to transport UAs freely will be a crucial part of future scientific research, so please: bring your meta alloys to Obsidian Orbital today!"

Title: The Rebellion of Bounties

Description: A battle has been raging on the past few days, a large group of bounty hunters has been fighting for independence in the Aymifa system, possibly because of misstreatment. We do not yet know the leader of this rebellion. But we do know that they initial their ships with the letters S.A.P.A. and a yellow stripe from the nose to the thrusters. We have recovered a beacon stowed inside a dissabled Imperial Cutter with a recording that stated the following-

"For those whom recover this beacon, let the Empire know that we will not put up with their rules any more. This rebellion is only the start of a galaxy free from the rules of an Imperial snob. If you wish to join us, paint your ship in yellow and look for the false imperial to give you further instructions. If not, this is your warning to flee Empire space."

We will be sure to update you on the rebellion when we get more information.

TITLE: Independent Pilots Liberate Gilya

DESCRIPTION: Independent pilots from the Pilots Federation today secured Bell Orbital as part of the first phase towards reintroducing Gilya Signature Weapons to the Gilya system. These weapons were prohibited by the Federation and are considered to be an essential rare trade commodity.

The operation spearheaded by Sacra Oculus successfully ensured that Bell Orbital, La Cosa Penal Colony and Kendrick Enterprise are all now controlled by the Gilya Resistance and the resulting changes have created Black Market trading at all three locations.

The second phase of the operation is now underway to change controlling influence at Bell Orbital to the Gilya Law Party, which has promised to commence production of Gilya Signature Weapons once again and at the same time ensure that Gilya Resistance maintains control of the penal colony and the orbiting platform.

Sacra Oculus invites Commanders to visit Gilya and undertake missions for the Gilya Law Party.

Title: Pilots Federation Criticized

The burn marks were still fresh when the Cobra Mk III, Better-Late-Than-Never, arrived at Solo Orbiter in Altair on the third leg of a rare commodity run. The ship's commander, still shaking after eleven hyperspace jumps and fourteen serial-interdictions, contacted local media and transmitted the following accusation:

“The Pilots Federation should be called out for what they really are: A criminal organization that enables thieves, bandits and thugs. They MANDATE that all licensed pilots transmit their combat rank via transponder! That’s fine and good for the Dangerous/Deadly/Elite crowd who want their bragging rights but what about those of us trying to earn an honest living as Explorers and Traders? We're forced to broadcast our "Harmlessness" to the entire Galaxy! What does this do? It invites the thugs to pick on the ‘easy targets’.

Shut. Them. DOWN!”

(I've restarted AGAIN for Iron Man mode so my CMDR name has changed since my last news submission)

Edit: No... I didn't restart after getting killed in an interdiction... I was eaten by a Neutron Star!

TITLE: Distant Worlds Expedition Reaches Beagle Point

DESCRIPTION:
Nearly three months ago, approximately 1,000 pilots set a course for CEECKIA ZQ-L C24-0, informally designated ‘Beagle Point,’ on the far side of the Milky Way galaxy.

This week, ‘Distant Worlds Expedition’ coordinators transmitted an announcement that the fleet has begun to arrive at its destination. A notably charismatic member of the expedition, a commander by the name of Salomé, was listed among the first to arrive at Beagle Point.

A series of 23 prearranged waypoints have helped keep the fleet organized and facilitated social interaction, including SRV races. Unfortunately, this coordination has not mitigated all losses. Of the 1,000 commanders who set out on the journey, it is estimated that only 25% have survived the trek across roughly 81,500 light years. Those losses will likely mount during the return journey.
