Truesilver's Tests, No.1: The Imperial Hammer

we also fired at the same FdL with no bulkheads and each shot did the same damage to it as when firing at military bulkheads.

The game simulates the supposed damage reduction effect of military bulkheads by increasing the base hull hit points by 95%. This is correctly reflected in both the coriolis and the in-game shipyard hull strength values. Note, ‘base hull’ not HRP.[...]all of the above will take damage at the same rate, with the same modifiers, with the only benefit of the military bulkheads being their simple (and quite modest) increase in hitpoints.
Holly molly! I may need to review my full HRPs build... :-/

So...lightweight, reinforced and military bulkhead do not offer any damage reduction? But mirrored and reactive do? Sounds like a bug to me...
Has this been reported as a bug? If so, did FD return on that and confirm it is not a bug? And if not, would you have a video demonstrating this? I'd be glad to report that...

No, military, mirrored and reactive all offer the same +95% increase in base hull hp, it's just that mirrored and reactive also change the damage modifiers whereas military leaves them the same.

Yep, that's what I meant.
Does not make sense to me (taking into account the price of a bulkhead) and sounds like a bug. Has it been reported already? Do we have a video to provide them (since they ask for that almost every single time)?

And if it is not a bug, the description of the reinforced / military bulkheads should be updated (as you mentioned already).

And if nothing changes, oh well, we are getting used to with this game anyway :)

I suppose the answer is that it made sense before the introduction of HRP and still makes sense in a no-HRP build. A Cmdr who uses base hull plus bulkheads and all internals devoted to shield, SCB's and interdictor still receives exactly what was paid for (except +95% not 100%, for some reason), even at a high price.

The HRP issue is just that the extra hp they confer is additive to the bulkhead, not multiplicative.

The price of a 5D HRP on a Fer-de-Lance does seem tiny compared to the bulkhead prices. But on the other hand, a doubling of hp applied to hull + HRP as opposed to hull only would near double the total HP of the current breed of hull tanks, causing fights to take nearly twice as long and to require nearly twice as much ammo as they do already!

Well, now I understand why those Duracell FdLs with 4 pips to SYS feel invincible, while I, do not :)
