So, place your bets as to when 1.3 will drop...

Stuck on the update Graphics card screen and I'm upto date with AMDs latest drivers.

Hmm hoping to work out how to get past it.

Ahh I need the beta version for AMD.

Downloaded, and tried to run setup. The DK2 now has a large banner showing that says "Oculus Rift DK2 is not supported on the Oculus Platform, including games and apps in the Oculus Store.

That, to put it mildly, is a big kick in the teeth for those that won't have CV1 yet.

Ignore the warning. The DK2 works. I have just watched Dreamdeck. Have installed Lucky's Tale but haven't tried it yet. Installing Elite into the library as I type.

Yeah, I just did exactly that before coming back here to report that I jumped the gun a bit earlier there! I realise it clearly meant technically not supported by Oculus, but does work. Anyway, cheers ;)

No Need, You can just run from desktop. In the oculus home setttings page set it to allow unknown apps.

Brief impressions are it is smooth but text is harder to read.

Ok got it, installed, thoroughly tested (DK2).

The good:
Butter smooth, timewarp works perfectly, love the new oculus window, love the fact that I can land on planets in High terrain detail perfectly smooth (have to check Ultra) WITH shadows set to medium (have to test higher!).

The bad:
The SMEARING IS HORRENDOUS. Unless the CV1 has built in protection from that (can someone confirm?) ED has to do something asap. It's really really horrible. Also the new oculus interface and inability to have any kind of desktop mode is really irritating, but maybe virtual desktop will update soon.

I've hit this .. where did you find the latest beta version. Is this the 16.3.1 hotfix?

Smearing worse than 0.8?

The only time I've had smearing issues is when I'm not using vsync. Did this start happening to you after 0.5 ?

Performance has very much improved, so I'm pleased overall.

However, whatever is causing that smearing is really the only gripe. I thought it was that Gamma was set too high (the slider was in the middle initially, which is either a default or the setting I had previously), but wherever it goes the star field looks horrid, as does the canopy dust effect. Super cruise also looks odd because of it. It reminds me of one of the Beta 2 tests in 2015 when VR support all went a bit Pete Tong...

I'm hoping it's a DK2 thing, although considering everything else looks okay from the Oculus Store, including Proton Pulse Plus which I thought I'd buy as I'd played the demo ages ago, it does seem to be just ED doing this.

The CV1 has a different panel, it is entirely possible that the pixel response times are better than the DK2.
