Pirates at Maia

No interdiction, I was lining up to dock and they just took me out with one hit. The station was firing at someone so I was taking it easy - the station needs bigger bullets!!!

Thanks for all the comments folks, it's like having a therapy session, feel much better now :)

Still doesn't sound like a pirate.

Thank you to the complete muppet who just destroyed me for no reason, I've just lost months and months of exploration data. NOT a happy bunny :(

Yes, I know that's the game, but they didn't even try to interdict me, just fired on me as I was making steady progress, making sure the entrance was clear.

They have due reason, this CG is developing the ability to transport a Bio-Weapon without any risk.

That really sucks, my sympathy. I would go into Solo or Mobius when heading back into the bubble with that much data.

It's the way the game is now....you just can't trust anyone period. Instead of a nice sandbox it is turning into a kitty's litterbox that is in serious need of a changing....I see stuff like this and it seriously makes me think it may be time for another game break to play other things....

Newsflash : You can't trust pilots in combat fitted ships in anarchy systems.

"Yeah but it's a person so they have to be nice, it's in the EULA!"

Did you perhaps enable PvP and now complain that somebody blew you up?

Its not that crowdy untill evening, when some mayhem starts [noob]

There is one group of cmdrs who tryin keep thier blockade on Obsidian orbital ever since CG went on... They call themselfs "Interstellar B******s" and they are from Russia. They shot anything that try to dock. Funny guys. Apart from them, you can find random wings of cmdrs who seek pvp, and some folks who is foolish enough to fly that area with non-combat ships in open during CG. They dont fly for too long :)

well, you're really lucky: they didin't killed you 5 seconds after entering system...
I jumped to supercruise and had to go afk ( toilet things... ) cutter in wing of 3 attacked me after less than a minute...
Well, good think that i brought gamepad to toilet. That was funniest highwaking escape ever :D

BTW they aren't pirates. They are just murderers. pirates don't kill if they don't have to.

Once Forntier sort out the high/low security properly I'm kinda hoping they think about dynamic security.

Like a low security system could up its security level over time in certain instances, a CG under siege would be a good example.

I mean meta-alloys have to be lucrative. Obsidian Orbital (with as good as a monopoly) must be absolutely rolling in credits. It really is in OO's interest to offer protection.

Dont foget, Maia is consider as Anarchy system... And what is happening over there right now in open when I wrote this, it fits very well for "Anarchy" term. ;)

Definitely not a pirate then, just a jerk with guns that enjoys blowing people up, pirates would be after your cargo, not your life.

Ahh yeah, this is true.

Saying that, despite Maia being anarchy, it is actually showing as a medium security system.

Hmm not sure i follow the logic there, I suppose anarchy just means "no government".

Security in the context of a no government system I suppose would be "hired guns", get Archon Delaine in to sort it out. =p

It would be nice if ED had a system where that sort of thing could happen.

OO is gonna be rolling in credits due to have a monopoly on the most sought after commodity in the galaxy. Them doing nowt while folk ferrying their wares get shot up make little sense.

But again I suppose it does not make sense to suggest that in the context of ED. Because with no government there is no notion of "wanted" state, therefore security cannot act anyway. :(

It's easy to become paranoid in Elite.
Not so much by experience, but after reading stuff on this forum. [yesnod]

Every hollow square that materializes on the radar, not to mention if it transforms into a triangle one; is someone that want to end my divine life.
Send me on to yet another reincarnation; to yet again confirm; that karma can be hard to find in the Elite Galaxy - just like in the actual one.
Usually, if I have time and free hands, I salute the hollow squares that I meet, also those turned triangle.
One in a million salute back.
Not that I have actually met that many in the game, not that the estimate given is anywhere near accurate. :p
But still; not many salute back.
More, however, interdict and attack. :D
No karma!

But, those attacks DO add to the flavour!
On a busy evening and night, during them community goals; things can be really hectic.
Being a runner, not an attacker; it is my Clipper and my Cobra Mk III, that becomes my link to God and fortune.
Both ships being pretty fast; when a wing of 3 or 4 wants you, for what ever reason; nothing feels easy.
Shields go down fast, then the hull; if I'm not fast enough or they get lucky with positions.
To those that want to do away with the most beloved BOOOOST; go home! :D

It sucks when I blow up.
Really sucks.
But that feeling when I can land safely, cargo intact; that feeling is, of course, worth it all.
"Victory is to survive and Death is defeat!".

TL; DR:
So, after all; to be mostly suspicious is less boring than being all safe.
I do hope to meet some of the more talkative and philosophically inclined Commanders out there, some day; but until then I will continue to enjoy the hungry predators that cross my path, now and then. :)

PS:
Some of you that interdicts me, are writing messages to me as well; usually urging me to pay for my life with cargo - all or just some.
To you; I am genuinely sorry for not responding.
I actually feel like answering, every time; but, of course, you all make me really occupied with getting away.
But thank you for making the game more fun. :)

Why Maia? Of all the hundreds of virtually empty systems, dozens of which are well outside trafficked space, you picked one of the busiest outside of the bubble! I sympathise for your loss, but that's like waltzing through WWII france and being shocked when a german soldier shoots at you.

Yes we should be able to go wherever we please because we are all very important, but in real life if you go through what is ostensibly pirate waters, pirates are probably going to shoot. We are all just small cogs in a giant machine; if any risk, no matter how trivial is a concern, then just jump into one of the many private groups that have sprung up for exploration and CGs.

If you were delivering Meta Alloys, and still had exploration data.. I am not sure what to make of that life-style choice. ;)

Were you in an exploration ship, or something fast like a cobra?
