Pirates at Maia

And this is why open PvP is dumb. Don't play in Open, kids.

Open PVP? As apposed to closed PVP, or? Sweeping accusations and assumptions - they explain everything, kids.

Maia is an anarchy system, and you drove that thing? You're braver than I thought.

Join us in solo whenever you have something you'd rather not lose.

Isn't solitude gone, as soon as someone joins you? ;)

For what happened in Maia:
Anarchy a beautiful word, unless someone missmatches the meaning with
"total pwnage slaughterhouse".

Is there not an issue with flying in solo when it comes to achievements etc? I'm sure I read something ages ago about having to be in open to qualify for rewards, achievement levels etc.?

If not then you're absolutely right and there's no point flying alone in open!

Why Maia? Of all the hundreds of virtually empty systems, dozens of which are well outside trafficked space, you picked one of the busiest outside of the bubble! I sympathise for your loss, but that's like waltzing through WWII france and being shocked when a german soldier shoots at you.

If you were delivering Meta Alloys, and still had exploration data.. I am not sure what to make of that life-style choice. ;)

Were you in an exploration ship, or something fast like a cobra?

Completely fair point! Last time I was there it was just me and hindsight is a wonderful thing ;) As I keep telling people in RL you learn more from the things which go wrong than those which go right!

And no, wasn't delivering metalloys, in fact had no cargo, no bounty on me and am allied to Maia. That's life! And death.

So far, there is no real difference between the three playing mode (except what people imagine in their heads, of course ;) ).

MFG
CMDR WER NUR

Its not that crowdy untill evening, when some mayhem starts [noob]

There is one group of cmdrs who tryin keep thier blockade on Obsidian orbital ever since CG went on... They call themselfs "Interstellar B******s" and they are from Russia. They shot anything that try to dock. Funny guys. Apart from them, you can find random wings of cmdrs who seek pvp, and some folks who is foolish enough to fly that area with non-combat ships in open during CG. They dont fly for too long :)

Yep I lost a Python there.. 4 Million that cost me.

Hah, that name and the fact that they're Russian. Can't help but to think of the stereotypical Russian who speaks with heavy accent and barely speaks English but holds an AK in one hand and vodka in the other.

Wait, how are they pirates if they decided to shoot you for no reason?

You know full well that anyone who shoots at you is a Pirate - it is written in the forums, which is on the interweb thingy and therefore 100% the truth! :D

Poor title choice but I have to say the OP is taking it rather well and could of written a far more entertaining rant involving real tears but instead he's kept it quite rational so hats off to him!

Thank you to the complete muppet who just destroyed me for no reason, I've just lost months and months of exploration data. NOT a happy bunny :(

Yes, I know that's the game, but they didn't even try to interdict me, just fired on me as I was making steady progress, making sure the entrance was clear.

Yep, life of an explorer.
From "Yaaawn" to "Holy $h*t" in 2 seconds.

Like suggested, you should consider everyone as a threat and be ready to drop from SC, highwake, wait, ...
Especially when you can't defend yourself.
And especially at key locations (Maia is one!)

Thanks, I just needed to vent ;) Far too old for tears!

It remains to be determined which one is more deadly. Probably the drunk pilot who runs you over with his Anaconda just for lulz ^^

The Russian guys aint very good tbh, they rely on the Cutters they fly to out gun the weak ships at the CG.
Not much in the way of role play either, "Go Solo or die "

I feel like an angry wasp in my DBS, at least if they are attacking me who is not contributing to the CG, they are leaving someone who is ;)

As others have said, condolences CMDR. Though if a lesson was learned, it wasn't a total loss.

There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again.

As usual, when you come back from exploration with lots of data, it's best to contact someone trustworthy and have them escort you on the last 1k leg.
Of course you could hide in solo/groups, but where's the excitement in that.

There have been six people (1x Cobra, 1x Imp Dropship, 2x Clipper, 1x Anaconda) shooting the bad guy in his cutter and they were not able to bring him down. He either escaped into SC or into the station - it was ridiculous how much damage he could take.

That's no pirate. Pirates rob you, not blow you up immediately...

Hi. I am a carrying a couple millions on my ship after a long session of exploration on my not defended, not ready for combat ship... let´s play in open shall we?

I mean, sure, the gankers are a bunch of cow poop and deserve to have their manhood cut and fed to the goats, but you could have avoided the whole issue by changing the mode for a couple minutes. Don´t you think?

Or by not going to a well known player hotspot which also happens to be an anarchy system. In an exploration-fitted ship. With weeks of data on board. Alone.
